OMG. Helix is my new hero. He saved my freaking life. Right after I saved his butt, though, so we’re even. We were walking down the street of shops when that giant from the condemned silk shop saw us, then saw Helix, and pulled out a gun. Carter screamed, Helix, who was walking right in front of me (longer legs, you know) stopped in his tracks, and I ran into him. He grabbed me wrist and pulled me in front of him.

“Not cool, Helix!” I yelled, grabbed his wrist instead, remembering every Judo lesson I’d ever taken as a little kid, and flipped him over my shoulder so he was in front of me. Carter came back to her senses and karate chopped our hand apart. Helix put his finger in his mouth because she hurt him, which I later laughed at. I, too, winced.

“Come on princess, we told you already to stay away from this vermin,” he spat, gesturing to Helix, who rolled his eyes.

“Ooh, mr. muscles is so tough. Tell me something I didn’t know already,” Helix swears in english. I give him a nudge and he colors, apparently forgetting that I grew up in the states.

“You know, I’d calm down, sir, or you’re gonna bust that vein in your forehead.” I say innocently. He grips the handle of the pistol. Helix chuckles. Then the vein in his temple pulses and he lifts the gun and takes aim at Helix. Instinct kicks in and I tackle Helix. I feel the bullet whiz over us. I scramble to my feet just to be taken down again, this time by Helix. I shoved him off and jumped to my feet.

“You don’t even know me!” I screeched, “Why would you even DO that?”

“You already said it, doll, I don’t know you, and you’re galavanting around with the princess and some hooligan who actually listens to her silly orders,” He yelled. I tried to pay no attention to where Carter was at that moment. She had taken off her shoes, and now whacked “Joe” over the head with them. Hard. Like, as hard as she possibly could.

“Princess, go home. Leave me alone to do my work. OOF!” while he was preoccupied with Carter, I planted a snapkick square to his chest. Helix surprised me by doing a front tuck over me and planting both feet directly in the guard’s stomach. He crumpled after Helix ran up him and did a backflip to land on the ground again. He cussed like a sailer at the unconscious man on the ground in both english and chinese, making both me and Carter punch him either shoulder.

“You know, it only hurts if you punch one,” Helix said, smirking. I look at Carter and she nods. I slam my fist into his right shoulder, and then Carter punches him in the left shoulder.

“Ohhh… Why did I tell you that?” Helix puffed out his cheeks while Carter and I cracked up.

“Oh, shut up,” Helix growled, massaging his shoulders. Then we walked four blocks until we were standing in front of the emperor’s palace.

“It’s about time you two met my parents.” Carter said, showing her pass to the guard at the gate. The doors swung open, welcoming us to the home of the Emperor and Empress of China.
