Jason's pov

I guess after I sober up I'll just leave and go back on the road. Kasi opens the door to my hotel room. "What are you doing here?" "I could ask you the same thing!" "What? What are you talking about?!" "You shouldn't be moping around, you should be talking to her, convincing her!"

Miranda's pov

"This isn't gonna work." I whisper, hiding behind the door. "Just talk to her!" She cries. "I did talk to her. She doesn't want me back! Look Kasi, I'm glad you found your true love but the girl I love doesn't love me back. Not anymore. Not after what I did." It's weird hearing him say this. "I-I don't think I'll ever find love." He says. "Maybe you should try just one more time!" "I don't want to make her cry again. I did that enough already." He says, tripping over his empty beer bottles. Before he even gets up, my arms are around his neck, hugging him. He falls back in surprise. "W-What... Just happened?" He gapes. "I heard what you said." "I think Kasi tricked me." He says with a smile. "I'm glad." I reply, letting go of him and sitting down. I hear the door close. "So.... You heard all that?" I nod. "Ok, tell the truth. In the cave yesterday when I kissed you.... What was your real answer?" I smile and kiss him. "Does that answer your question?" "Are you answerin' my questions with questions?" I laugh and reply, "Are you?" He laughs and stands up, pulling me to my feet. "How about we just leave the past there in the past and start over." He says, wrapping his arms around my waist. I smile and kiss him again. "I'd really like that."

*the next day*

Jason's pov

Oh jeez. Hungover again. I need to stop drinking especially if I'm gonna go fly again. I sit up in bed. What the? She's back! What happened last night!? "Hey honey, wake up." I say, shaking her. She sits up and yawns. "What... Uh.... What happened last night?" "You said some things. I said some things but I think I'll give you a second chance." "What did I say?"

Miranda's pov

I tell him everything. "But none of that matters. I forgive you. Just don't leave again." I whimper hugging him. "I'll never leave. I'll follow you to the ends of the earth." "That's what I wanted to do after graduation but-" "It's okay now honey. Remember we aren't thinking about the past." He says, kissing me. He's right. Forget about the past. I lay back down, glad to finally have things back to normal.

*later*

He tries to nurse his hangover and I go to my car, grabbing that note from all those years ago. I walk back inside. "Hey Jason where do you keep your lighter?" I call. "Oh you aren't gonna go all Carrie Underwood on me are you?" He jokes, walking in. I shake my head and he gets it out of the drawer. "And that's Miranda Lambert who did that song." I say. He shudders. I laugh. "What are you burning?" He asks before handing it to me. I snatch it and he catches me around the waist. I try to twist free but he grabs the letter. "What is this?" He asks, opening it. He reads through it. "Oh baby why'd you hold onto this?" "I don't know but I was getting rid of it now." "WE was getting rid of it now." He says, smiling and hugging me. He tosses it in the fireplace and lights it. We watch it burn then he puts wood on and we sit in front of it, just watching it burn.
