Jason's pov

I got a message from Kelly. Confused. It said come to the studio. So I go to the studio. Miranda walks out holding a guitar when I get out of my truck. "What's going on babe?" "A surprise." She grabs my hand. We go into the studio. "This is Mike. My manager. I'm going to a concert." My eyes go wide. "Oh wow I'm gonna see my girl in concert!" She nods. She takes me to her tour bus.

Miranda's pov

He looks around the bus, shocked. "Wow babe this place is decked out!" I laugh and put my guitar in it's case. "Well, we've got a long drive."

Jason's pov

I hear someone singing. I move the pillow off my face, trying to wake up. "Countin' the lines on the highway rollin' by one by one, everything flying by like a man on the run- Ugh no that's stupid." She balls up a piece of paper and throws it away. Hm? "Hun, what ya doin'?" "Trying to work on a song. But I'm having trouble figuring out the right lyrics. She starts writing and singing. I walk over as she balls another paper up. I pick it up. "Countin' the lines on the highway rollin' by one by one." I read quietly. That's a good lyric. "I think I've got one if you don't mind." "Sure, you were always the better songwriter." I shake my head. "Nonsense darlin', you're a great songwriter." I sit down beside her. "Flyin' through the midnight rain like a bullet from a gun." "Ooh that's really good." She takes the pencil. "I lay down but I can't sleep cause I still feel the band. Still on a high from the crowd and the lights with a cold one in my hand." She writes and sings. I smile and hug her.

*the next day*

We pull up at the place where she's gonna play. "Break a leg, beautiful." She laughs. "Oh my gosh. That's acting silly." I shrug and kiss her. Then she grabs her guitar and goes onstage. She sings the new song we wrote last night then a new one I haven't heard before. "Mama you taught me to do the right things but now you've got to let your baby fly, mama you gave me everything that I'd need to make it through this crazy thing called life and I know you watched me grow up and only want what's best for me and I think I found the answer to your prayers and he is good. So good, he treats your little girl like a real man should and he is good. So good, he makes promises he keeps no he's never gonna leave so don't you worry about me." I feel my face get hot. She's talking about me. The new me. And I'm never gonna leave. Man, she sings amazingly. I clasp her hand as she comes backstage. "Wow baby that was amazing!" I gasp, spinning her around and into my arms. She giggles and hugs me. We go back to her bus. "Tell me about your adventures." She whispers, laying against my chest. "I went everywhere. Australia, Britain, Russia." "What did you do?" "Explored. Found new things... Ya know before I came home, I was planning to climb Mt Everest." She sits up quickly. "You were?" "Yeah. But that part of my life is over."

Miranda's pov

Hm. Maybe after the tour we can both do it. "It doesn't have to be over." He raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean hun?" "Let's both climb Everest! Together, when I finish my tour!" He laughs. "Darlin', Mt Everest is the most dangerous mountain to climb. You have to have extensive training for it. And even then people sometimes don't survive!" "I think we can do it." He smiles. "You're doing it again." "Doing what?" "Wanting to follow me." "Hey it should be fun!"

Jason's pov

She doesn't know what she's talking about. "It won't be fun, hun, it'll be dangerous and tiring and you'll have to do a lot of walking and climbing! What about your fear of heights?" She laughs and stands up. "I lost that when I went skydiving into the CMAs!" She gasps, laughing. My eyes go wide. "You did?" She nods and grabs a few pictures. Wow. She really did. Maybe she does have what it takes to climb Everest with me. I smile. "Ok you showed me the country star life now I'll show you my adventurous life." "Oh Jason, you mean it!?" I laugh and nod. She jumps on the bed beside me. "This is gonna be great!" I pull her down. "Calm down, sweetheart, save your energy.... For the climb." Her eyes light up. She hugs me. "I'm so glad you're here." I fight back the tears of regret, longing, and missing her. "Me too baby, you don't know how bad I missed you."
