Jason's pov

One thing has been nagging at me. Who was her husband? Why'd she get married to him? And why does she still wear the ring? I ask her about it but she never wants to talk about it and she always wears his ring. Did she love him? "Did you love him?" Her eyes go wide. "No! Well not for real anyway. It was sort of an arranged marriage and all. You know my mom, she didn't want me to worry about bills and junk." She mumbles, finally opening up about him. "Well, why do you still wear the ring?" "Dang it, I don't wanna talk about it! It was a dark time in my life that I never wanna relive!" She cries, leaving the room. Oh man. I rush after her. "Honey, I'm sorry, I'll stop asking you. I didn't know it was so bad!" She glares at the ring then takes it off. "I hated him with everything I had. I just didn't want to get caught." She whispers, tears in her eyes. "Honey, what do you mean?" I rest a hand on her shoulder. "I had to Jason, I had to do it." "Do what? Baby you're not making any sense!" I gasp, turningher around. "If I didn't he would've kept on hurting me." She hands me the ring and walks away. What the hell just happened!? I don't want to ask her but I have to find out what happened! I decide to call Kelly, hoping she kept in touch with her after high school. She did thank goodness so we meet up somewhere. I just tell her I'm going to the studio. I meet her at the nearby coffee shop. "I can tell you everything." She says, sipping her coffee. I didn't get a coffee. I don't like coffee. "I want to know who this husband was?" I gripe. "Oh ya wanna know that, huh, what about after you left? How she cried all night for you." I sigh. "We've moved passed that! I'm not leaving again." "Well, her husband wasn't really a husband, sure they were married but it was forced. She didn't wanna do it. He was like twenty years older than her anyway." "Who was he and what happened to him?" She sighs. "His name was Joey Finnigan. And he was a nice guy until after marriage. We found out some things we never knew about him." I'm starting to get a little worried. What did this bastard do to my girl?! "We found out he was a sex addict." Oh shit! "Does that mean.... He.... Raped her?" I struggle to say. "I'm afraid so. Pretty much every night. And he insulted her all the time, saying no one would want her. She wasn't good enough. That kind of controlling bullshit. So much so.... That she started to.... Well.... Believe it." Her eyes fill with tears. I can't believe this happened to her. "She gave up. We stopped seeing her around. Everyone did but no one knew why." "What happened to him?" "She was tired of him, tired of being hurt by him. She finally got herself back. She wasn't gonna take his crap anymore." I grip the table in fear. What's she gonna say next!? My heart is racing. "Well.... She did the only thing she could do.... She killed him." My eyes go wide in complete shock. "She k-killed him?" Kelly nods. No wonder she said she didn't wanna get caught. I stare at the ring she gave me. "I-I have to go." I mumble, shaken. I walk to the bridge over lake sinclair and give that ring a toss. I watch it sink. Finally the last bit of that horrible man is gone. I get back home and hug her tightly. "I'm sorry I made you cry. I won't ask about it again. I love you." "I-I love you too." She says, her grip tightening.
