Chapter 10 Transformation
Trance was waiting in the parking lot patiently. As planned earlier, Sam and I took Aaron's car and trance and Erica followed. We drove for the mall and started picking out random shirts for Trance to try on. The kid was lost the whole time, not understanding what we were doing, but he didn't protest. After we were finished with the shirts, we moved onto the pants and we convinced him to get a haircut and ditch his glasses for contacts. It took us until 7 to get everything done, so we agreed to grab food at the food court.
Trance got a chance to talk to us and find out more about us. He was no longer scared of Sam and I and knew that we meant no harm. Erica and Trance were hitting it off. They were making small chats and laughing.
It was pretty obvious that Trance likes Erica and Erica was unsure about her feelings. Erica and I had excused ourselves from the table and gone to the restroom.
"I think that Trance is kind of cute and he's such a nice person. I can't believe that I wasn't aware of the fact that Selena had been bullying kids," she confronted me. "I don't know what to do about her. I mean, I don't know what she's going to do without being with the cheerleaders. She's been a cheerleader ever since her freshman year, it would really suck if she got kicked out of the squad. What should I do?" she asked with bewilderment in her eyes.
I looked her straight in the eyes and said, "You don't have to kick her off the squad, yet. I have her a warning today, so unless she really wants to get kicked off, she wouldn't do anything. I hope that that day doesn't come." I sighed. All I wanted was for her to leave us Jamesons alone. "Was I being a little too harsh on them today?" I asked.
"I think that you did the right thing by stopping a bully," she replied with a proud look on her face.
"But I feel that I was acting like a bitch. I shouldn't have stuck my nose in their business. Who knows what's going to be coming in my direction after what I just did."
"Girl, you're my idol. I can assure you that they wouldn't do anything to you or to another person from be on. Those kids, they respect you. The guy who had attempted to punch Trance in the face was Derek. I don't know what position he plays, but he's on the football team. The way he looked at you was full of respect and admiration. You should know that every guy in the school looks up to you as if you were their Goddess and every girl wishes that they were you and you're their role model. Derek seeks a lot of attention, but I guess he doesn't know how to get it."
"I'm not that good," I said shortly.
"But you are. In the simplest term, you're perfection."
"Erica, you flatter me too much. I'm like every human being: flawed. Nothing makes me better than anyone."
"You saved a kid today, from being bullied. Now, you've taken him shopping and transformed him from head to toe," she stated, trying to prove her point.
"I just want the rest of the year to be peaceful. I had a pretty chaotic life before this, so I'm simply wishing that I can study in a tranquil environment. Speaking of Trance," I began, changing the subject, "You were saying that he's cute? I see that you two are getting along pretty well," I teased.
Erica blushed crimson. "I didn't say that," she whispered shyly, obviously in denial.
"You like him?"
"I don't know if..." she started in a rush, but she never finished her sentence as she had realized what she had just starts saying.
"Alright, let's get going before they start asking question," I told her, trying to save her from her own embarrassment. I thought that it was kind of cute, but I could tell that Erica was really embarrassed.
We went back and joined the boys to finish dinner before parting.
"Hey, 'Stasia, thank you for everything. I'll pay you back as soon as possible," Trance said.
"It's okay. You don't have to rush to get the money back to me," I stated. "I'll see you two at school tomorrow. Good night." With that, Sam and I left.
