Chapter 18 A Gathering

People started arriving and it didn't take long until everyone showed up. There were approximately thirty people in the house, including my team and myself. It wasn't what you would consider a party, it was just a little gathering to talk about the dramas around us and for me to learn a little more about my friends.

When they asked about my life, I didn't know what to say. I mean, they've asked me this before, but they didn't get much out of me, nor Sam.

"So, we've never told you guys much about our lives. My parents are pretty loaded, as you can tell from this mansion-like place where we like to call home and the cars lining up in our garage catching dust. They're away most of the times, kind of like Aaron's family. Four years ago, Sam suddenly 'disappeared' to be home-schooled with me. As you may have realized, being rich also has its drawback. Other business owners see my parents as one of their biggest competitors. Four years ago, someone was sent out to get my parents, which was why Sam 'disappeared' around that same time. My parents wanted to keep us protected, thus, they made us take self-defense classes. We're back now, but there are still people out there who wants to get us. I'm telling you this because I want you all to be careful. Those people would try anything to get to us and that means you guys."

Everyone was staring at Sam and I. Some were shocked, others were trying to understand. Aaron was the first to speak up. "I knew you guys were hiding something. Don't worry about us. Most of us have a decent family history, if anything, I’m willing to share my guards,” he joked. “I hope that you two will be safe."

"Yeah, we'll take care of ourselves and look after each other," Erica added.

I decided to drop and topic and move on. "These are my childhood friends and they're staying with us for now. Some of them would probably show up at our school, so I hope that you won't freak out when you see them. Many of you will recognize Seth, the new kid from our school. He's a friend of my friends and he's staying with me as well. I don't really know him that well so it's still kind of awkward between us Jamesons and this kid. If there are any questions, feel free to ask."

"Thirteen of you in this house? I mean, the house is big and all, but isn't that kind of big for a family? And there's only one girl amidst this crowd of guys. How do you put up with this?" Aaron asked.

"Well, I put up with it the same way each and everyone of you put up with your sibling. I mean, I feel safe in this environment.  Talk about walking home and being welcomed by the sight of twelve hotties, which girl wouldn’t want that, right?” I taunted Aaron, wiggling my brows. He made a disgusted face, leaving the rest of us holding onto our stomach and laughing like there’s no tomorrow.

“You mah girl and all, but I ain’t gonna agree with you on this one. God, you just put an awful image in my mind,” he complained.

“What suddenly gotten into you? Turning all ghetto on us? Trying to hide behind your alter ego so that we won’t notice that you’re actually very excited about the topic we were just discussing?” I taunted. “Anyway, we've all known each other for many years and our parents knew each other. It feels normal being around them. Plus, they all spoil me to no end, so I've got eleven protective brothers and a great friend that also backs me up. How's that for a life? I mean, I wouldn't have to worry about anything."

"You guys should stop spoiling her. She taking this way too far,” Aaron responded immediately.

“Well, apparently not far enough if you’re still here listening to me talk,” I retorted. We all knew this was all a joke

“I’m here to stare at mah girls, you got a problem with that?” he asked, puffing up his chest.

“Oh, so you weren’t checking out my bros? Well, well, ladies, looks like we ourselves a perve here.  What do you say we kick his ass?” I suggested.
