Chapter 16 A Reunion of Friends

Cakes and cupcakes were stored away in the freezer, along with the drinks, and ice cream. Other desserts were still on its way, along with tonight's meal. We had resorted to Wez's favorites, like waffles, pancakes, toasts, bagels, sandwiches, croissants, and omelets. A jug of freshly squeezed orange juice is chilling in the fridge. Tonight's dessert is ice cream.

It's 7:30 and the guys are going to show up in half an hour. They're always on time, so all we have to worry about is getting the food prepared when they show up. These guys are the clean up crew, sort of like backups. Their job was to dispose of all the evidence after a fighting. They also take the enemies back to their base and conduct investigations. Wez and his 'gang' are easy to satisfy. I've never understood why they prefer to call themselves the 'gang,' but apparently, it makes them sound cool. Guys... They're around Damon's age, all in their early twenties. How did I know them? Well, let's keep it short and say that Dad introduced Sam and I to them when we were young.

The first time we met, we were only five. Wesley and Sam became really close the moment they met, yet again, guys... Although Wez is two years older than Sam, they got along pretty well the moment they met. Since Sam and I were close, he tried to introduce the blushing Wez to me. It was the cutest thing ever, but of course, we're not supposed to mention it to anyone else. When middle school began, I started gaining weight like crazy. Wez came back one summer to visit and I had been trying to hide from him the moment I found out that he was coming back to spend the summer. I thought that he would start making fun of me like the other kids at my school, but he was still the same old him. He never cared a moment that he was spending time with the fattest girl in town.

Wez had always treated me the same, no matter how I looked. He told me that he loved every moment that we spent together. We had spent a lot of time together, although not as much as Sam and I. Whenever Dad comes back from his 'vacations,' Wez was always with him. Sometimes, Wez would stay for a while before leaving. Other times, he would just leave with Dad. Wez was put up for adoption when he was eight years old. Dad thought that he could use some help, so he took Wez in. Wez is like a brother to me, always have been, always will be. Although he didn't take on our last name, he's been as protective of me as Sam has.

I knew that Wez was back in town this time, but I thought that he had left with Dad. Well, I miss my older brother anyway, so I'm still glad that he's staying behind. Well, after all this blabbering, all the preparing is done. There's a knock from the front door. My phone buzzed on the table kitchen island.

Wez: Open up ;p

Me: Sorry, it’s not that easy ;)

I went to the door and opened it for him.

"You still did, ha!" he yelped excitedly, sending me a wink.

"Yes, I did, just not the way you want me to," I smirked. He leaned in to give me a tight hug. After what seemed like a minute, Wez still didn't let go.

"Move out of the way, I want my hug, too, you know," Cameron said, mocking anger. He pried Wez off me and gave him a shove into the house. "Look who turned out to be a beauty," he whispered into my ear as he pulled me into a hug. "I wish I could..." he trailed off as he hugged me tighter, his lips on my neck.

"Cameron," I whispered, "Stop teasing me." He took a step back and let go of me, giving me a smirk. He walked into the house to join the eight guys who were already waiting in the kitchen.

"Hey Leon," I greeted to the biggest guy on the squad. He practically squashed me against his chest, but he quickly let go when he realized that I was getting my life squeezed out of me. He quickly set me back on the ground and walked into the house, giving me a quick 'hi' before he left.
