"What do you want?" I growl, taking two steps back and leaning onto one of the trunks that lead to the opening. Before he answers, another figure enters next to Alec.

"What the hell is this a Fray intervention?" I ask folding my arms. I feel more confused than angry and what I want more than anything is food. I should've stayed home and ate, my mother is right. I'm not okay. I look at Alec with hatred and made sure he knew it, my Wolf is listening to me today because she's awfully quiet even though her mate is knowingly right in front of her.

"So this is the girl? She's tougher than she looks." The man next to Alec gives me a look as if he's impressed and I turn away with disgust. I'm not a prize that they can claim and put up on a shelve and dust off every once in a while for show and tell. I'm just a girl who's trying to live a normal life, but then again nothing about me or my life is normal.

"Who's he?" I ask Alec.
"That's my father. He wanted to meet you." He hesitates at the word meet and scratches the back of his head, I guess that notion is a Fray thing.

"How'd you know where I was?" I ask looking to see if he's been stalking me all this time. I wouldn't be surprised his family likes to stalk.

"I don't know. I just knew. Your scent is all over this place." My face heats up when he mentions my smell. No one can smell you better than your mate not even your parents. School taught us it's the best way for our mates to know where we are to ensure of our safety. That's too bad, though. I was considering running away.

"Are you my mate?" I ask get up from my corner. I approach Alec and start to circle him with my observing eyes I notice he's struggling to breathe, and like the kind person I am I touch his chest and breathe with him. I refused to look him in the eye because then it'll prove that I'm an idiot for helping him when he's done nothing but hurt. Soon he calms down and I let go off him and turn away only to be pulled closer to him and now I'm the one with a hitched breathe. I close my eyes and try to imagine the river that's hidden by the trees and the Moon's reflection.

"What a lovely couple." Alec's father chuckles mocking us. Wait not us. Me. I slip from Alec's grasp and clutch my sweater.
"You can call me Mr. Fray."

"I'd rather call you jackass if you're okay with it." I growl. Alec stifles a laugh and his father moves towards me. I stand my ground looking up at his yellow eyes, nothing in my bones feared him. All I could see is a hurt Alpha who uses fear to control people, but I'd never tell him that directly. If anyone is smart enough and good at analyzing, then they'd notice his pain.

"Smart move." He breathes in my face and I move and step back into the corner. The air is still and it's quiet enough to hear the babbling noises of the river with a frequent whoosh as the water descends into a larger body of water.

"Wait so what're y'all here for?" I fold my arms and exchange glances between the both of them.
"Because we came to warn you of my son, Apollo. He's known for taking whats rightfully Alec's and I intend for that to not happen again. Especially if it involves his mate."

"Rightfully his? I'm not a trophy, dude. I don't want to be your pack's prize for the taking. I'm earned."
"Aren't trophies earned?" Alec's father challenges to mess with my head.

"Why isn't he the one talking to me. You're not the only one with a mouth and vocal chords." I retort trying to change the subject. Everything in me said run and go back home to where my parents are. Graduation is next week and we have a costume party tomorrow which is ironic because we just celebrate Halloween.
