"Hi baby," I say picking up my squirming daughter whose eyes are still tightly shut. She twitches once I slip my hands under her and I put her belly first on my chest. I look over into Blaze's crib and he's also awake. I look around the room and spot the car seats and I put Blue inside of hers.

Blaze's jet black coils curl in my fingers and I couldn't be more in love than I was right now. Being away from them was horrible, but now we're here and together and they're mine. All mine. I put him in his car seat and pick them both up and walk back into the bedroom where Alec is still asleep. I tiptoe towards the door hoping to not wake up Alec in the process. I open the door and cringe when Blue gurgles loudly. Her father has annoyingly amazing hearing and can hear anything within range. Thankfully, he doesn't wake up and I leave the room. The hall is pin drop silent and without checking, I head towards Alec's mother's cell so she can meet her grandchildren. Her life is already desolate enough she deserves to see them. I push open the large wooden door with my back and step in.

"What do you think you're doing?" I jump with fear nearly dropping Blaze's car seat. I grip it tighter to make sure that he doesn't get hurt. I spin around, keeping the door open with my foot to find Alec's father looking at me with obvious anger.

"I want them to meet their grandmother."

"Absolutely not. Step away from the door."

"Why?" I challenge.

"Because he said so, Valentina." Alec is right in front of the door before I could take a breathe.

"Baby, I just want them to get to know their grandma. I know that I don't know what she did to be in that cell but why would she harm our pups?"

"You don't know her like my dad and I do. I want our kids to remain safe and that won't happen if they see her."
I walk towards Alec and give him a soft kiss on his lips, "It's not fair how you two are treating her. She deserves a second chance regardless of what she did decades ago. My mother. One of their grandmothers is already dead and one of their grandfathers is a cheating bastard. Don't take away their chance."

"Valentina. I understand but it's still no. They're too young and too vulnerable. In time I will tell you why it has to be this way. I'm sorry." I suck my teeth and swiftly turn and walk away from him. I put down both of the car seats and lift Blaze who is softly whining and in need of human contact.

"May I?" Alec's father stands behind me looking over my shoulder and marveling at Blaze whose eyes are open. I hesitate at first and then put Blaze into his waiting arms.

"Ah, he's so precious. I'm so sorry for threatening to harm them when you were pregnant. I've forgotten what this is like. Holding a newborn. It's the best feeling in the world."

"I agree." I smile at Alec's father and for once he wasn't the tyrant that he was when I first met him in the forest nearly a year ago. He has changed since Blue and Blaze were born for the better. Maybe this will last and he'll have the heart to set his wife free from her chains. Maybe. I knew in my heart that this peace wasn't going to last long. Something in my heart put me at unease and now with two other lives to think about I'm high on alert for any signs of trouble but I highly doubt anyone would get to the twins. Still. I feel like there's something out there. I lift Blue who probably sensed that we're not paying attention to her from her car seat and cuddle her.

"Oh my baby. So sweet." I nuzzle her onto my breast and she doesn't take the bait which means she's not hungry. I walk towards me and Alec's bedroom and I overhear Alec asking for his father to give him Blaze. I walk into the nursery and put Blue inside her nursery and she slowly goes back to sleep. Once I leave, Alec goes inside so that he can do the same thing to Blaze. I pull off my pajama shorts and go into the closet to get a button up shirt.

"Where are you going?"
"Into town. I don't want to be here right now."
"Why not? Because I didn't let the twins see my mother? Valentina, stop being so immature."
"Immature, huh? Wanting my kids to see the only grandmother they have is being immature? I'm being a mother, Alec. If that's being immature then sue me." I yell, slamming the closet door and opening the dresser with my pants in it loudly. I pull out a pair of jeans and then a blazer from the other dresser. I pull on the pants and slip on my blazer.
"I'm sorry," Alec whispers in my ear wrapping his arms around my waist. I push him off and walk towards the door where my purse and converses are.

"I'm going into town like I said before, okay? Don't follow behind me. Just watch our babies no matter what." I give him a small smile and walk out the door and out towards the hallways where the maids were walking back and forth hurriedly. Sometimes I forgot that where Alec renovated our part of the castle was practically closed off from even the maids to protect our pups. Someone important was coming based on their scared faces which I can tell was because of Alec's father whose name scared people by itself.

"Hey," I grab one of the maids' arm and pull her on the side.
"What's going on?"

"Hello your highness," she bows and then rises up again when she realized how I wasn't in the mood, "Mr. Bayard said someone important is visiting today and we have to make the place nice for them. That's all I know."

"Thank you. You can go now." She soon scurries off back into the line of maids to complete her tasks. I secure my purse onto my shoulder and walk out onto the outside of the palace. For a moment, I stop to take in the view of my village which is nestled between the two forests where danger lurks in every corner. Thankfully, I have the strength to protect myself now since I'm able to turn. I walk down the hill and into the forest. Once I reach the river, I pull of my sneakers and roll up my pants to cross over. It was a cloudy day today and everything about it was twisting my stomach in knots over and over again. Something isn't right. I continue to walk towards the town and soon I can sense my safe place. However, it doesn't feel safe anymore.
"Who's here? Don't even try to hide because I can sense you." I keep a sharp eye all around and don't for a second not let my guard down.
"Damn. Ya got me good, girl. Your senses are sharper than I realized." The voice was further than I thought but it was definitely a woman talking, her voice was smooth and confident. Like a female version of Alec.
"Who are you?"
"Your boyfriend or should I say mate never mentioned me? I thought I'd be etched in his mind and heart forever considering what I did to him centuries ago." The stranger said.
"At least show yourself if you don't pose a threat."
"You are so naive. I never knew Alec went for the adult toddlers too." I hear a crackle of branches and spin around and for the first time I see the stranger. She's beautiful, her curly hair was shimmering blonde and it glimmered in the little sunlight the cloudy day offered. Her skin pale but her mouth full of vibrant red. There was something about her but I couldn't pinpoint what.
"It's nice to meet you, Valentina. Could you do me a favor and take me to the palace where Alec and Apollo live?"
"No. Who the hell are you? And how do you know my name?"
"I know you're name because you're Alec's Luna and one of the most powerful Luna's the werewolf world has seen in centuries but I can see you're not even close to tapping that power yet. And in the case of who the hell I am. My name is Desdemona Latrovia and I need to see Alec and Apollo now."
