Minecraft: a Novel

Chapter 24

The archers fired. An arrow whizzed right in front of my neck. I ran toward the nearest tree as the archers reloaded. I hid behind it and took a deep breath. The war has started. Or at least this battle.

Ben had run to a tree beside mine. He had a spare bow, unenchanted. He was using every opportunity to fire it. Grace and Lora were also shooting, but they were more trained in the field. They both had perfect accuracy and quick draw times. All I had was a sword, enchanted with knockback II.  

I also had ender pearls. Maybe I could teleport behind the enemy ranks, and take them out from behind? I dismissed this thought, for I couldn't see the last row of men.

"Wimps! Infantry class three attack!" Herobrine called.

A door in the tank opened and men with stone swords poured out. The archers stopped shooting, which meant I could step out from behind the tree. Ben did so as well.

Lora and Grace were firing violently at the oncoming men. Every once and a while, an arrow shaft would sprout from the chest of a soldier, despite their leather armor.

Me and Ben left our cover. Jane appeared out of nowhere and started slaying the men with her sharpness sword. She skillfully dodged each and every blow that was directed at her. Ben jumped in and joined her.

I hesitated, then started sprinting at the men. I tried to find a reason to be angry at them, and I seceded. They took my family. That was all I needed.

Just like at the training room, I got out of control. Using little effort, I dismantled several men with one blow. Some tried to counter-attack. I blocked them and stabbed back. Soon there were no more men to slay.

"Human scums. Tranquilizers, fire!" Herobrine scoffed.

The archers pulled out their bows again, this time enchanted with Wither. I tried to run for the tree, but it was too late. An arrow struck me in the heel, pain soaring up my leg. I fell to the ground and slowly withered to nothing.
