The Last - Chapter 16

During the few days I was forced to rest, my body had managed to heal more or less and I could move around the way I wanted to at last. There was still strain on my body if I pushed myself too far, however, this progress was enough to be up to fulfilling the mission Erwin had come up with. We wouldn't fail again. The capture of the female titan would be accomplished and completed. We were all determined to make up for the failure we had made before. Mikasa, Eren and Armin were the main people that were going to lure out the female titan. The pretense was going to be that they were to sneak Eren out of the wall so that he wasn't taken in by the Military Police and killed. While this happened we were to wait in our hiding places and when ready, we were to restrain the female titan whilst she was in her human form.

The time had come to set out our mission. Armin had gone off to meet with the female titan while we all hid in our hiding places. Mine was on top of a building. Ducking below the tip of the rooftop, I listened out for the familiar voices. Those voices soon reached my ears so I peaked over the top. A blonde girl was stood at the top of the stair way while the three were mid way down the stairs. She knew, didn't she? Glancing over at the rest of the soldiers, the same understanding could be seen on their faces.
"Hey, Annie." Eren began, his voice angry. "There's still a chance that you're going along with this because you have a shitty sense of humour. So get down here now!" He didn't want to accept that someone he had called a comrade could possibly be the killer of all those men. "You can prove something just by going underground! Get down here and prove it!" There was a silence which seemed to be when she replied as Eren started up again. "I said this isn't funny!"
"Let's talk, Annie!" Armin began, his tone pleading. "We can still talk...." Mikasa seemed to have enough as she ripped off her cloak and pulled out a sword. Her eyes were glaring daggers at the blonde, Annie.
"I'll tear you apart again, female Titan!" Mikasa spat. This seemed to amuse Annie as she began to laugh creepily.
"Armin, I'm glad I could be a good person to you." She began talking. Oh shit! "You've won your bet. But.... This is my bet begins!" With that Mikasa fired up the flare and the citizens began running towards Annie, one thing in their minds. Restrain her before she shifted. The men grabbed and gagged her, however, the look on Mikasa's face quickly turned to one of alarm and anger. She grabbed hold of Eren and Armin and began descending down the stairs. Lightning flashed down and the citizens and soldiers dressed as citizens began flying off in different directions by the blast of wind that went through town.
"Evacuate the area! Now!" I ordered. Everyone began to turn tail and run in the opposite direction. For good reason too.

As she transformed and the female titan materialized around her, a blast was sent out destroying the houses we had been on and also killing any who were within range. Where were the kids? Were they ok? Seeing a blast of wind coming towards where I stood, I dove off of the rooftop and was carried by it into one of the houses across the street. Smashing through the window, I landed on the floor with a loud thud and a crash. Glass was scattered around my body and my side hurt slightly from the angle I had landed on it. Ignoring the pain, I pushed myself up and walked out. Annie's titan form loomed over the damaged area like death over a small child. Horrifying, deadly and large.
"Is everyone ok?" I called out. A few replies were heard and so were many groans or cries. People had died during that transformation of the female titan and it pissed me off. God damn kid giving us so much trouble to deal with.

Jogging out of the house and over the damaged areas, many corpses were positioned underneath or above the rubble. The smell of metallic blood drifted through the air as well as the feeling of dread. We had to continue on with the mission no matter what. Making sure my Maneuver was working, I smirked triumphantly as I realised that my gear was the least of my worries. Flying up onto the top of a nearby rooftop that had lasted and stayed strong through the destruction of the rest, my eyes roamed over the area looking for the kids. I could just barely see Eren down the bottom of the stairway with Armin and Mikasa. Thank God they were ok. Time for plan B. Eren was to transform and fight the female titan. It was too dangerous for us to get involved so we had been ordered to stay away while this occurred. As soon as Annie had been taken down, we were to cut her out of the neck and keep her tied up and gagged. It looked like she had used a ring to cut herself earlier so that also needed to be confiscated.
