Chapter 12

(Chase’s POV)

I sat there uneasily. She was attractive. Highly attractive. She was an actress too. Baby girl was making money. She thought like me. We shared the same interests. She understood all my jokes and laughed with me. Mom would love her. In another world she would be the perfect woman for me. So why am I sitting here across from Mrs. Right, and all I could think of was my Christina?

Where have u been? Imy. Need 2 c u soon.

I read the text under the table that I sent her hours ago contemplating over if I should send her another one. What did I do this time? It wasn’t like her to just ignore me like this unless she was mad. “Hellooo? Earth to Chase,” Erica said sweetly as she slowly waved her hand in my face. I snapped out of my daze. “I’m sorry, what were you saying?”

“Whatcha looking at under the table?” she asked.

“My phone. Sorry, I got a text. I’ll put it up. You have my full and undivided attention. You were talking about how many kids now?” I asked remembering we were on the subject of how many kids we would like to have in the future. “Well I’m huge on big families so I’ve always wanted four to six.” Damn. She laughed. My face must have said what I was thinking. “Wow. You really must be family oriented,” I said.

“Yeah, well I think family is very important. When you don’t have anyone else, family will always be there.” I looked at her. Not sure what I was looking for. There was purity all over her. “I don’t get it Chase,” she said breaking the silence.

“What?” I asked.

“You. I mean…you’re gorgeous, you have a very respectable job, your personality is out of this world, you’ve never been to jail, you don’t have any kids…why aren’t you taken?” she bluntly asked. I chuckled and shrugged my shoulders. Believe me; I’ve heard that a million times. “Just waiting for the right one I guess. Not a lot of woman can handle a guy like me.”

“Ahh, are you insinuating that you’re a bad boy,” she said with a sexy cringe in her face. I chuckled. “Naw, actually I’m one of the good guys,” I said looking at her. “But you know, I have my bad ways,” I added. She smirked. I tugged at my collar feeling the heat up in here.

“So tell me more about how you know Vanessa?” she asked me. That was probably the last thing I wanted to talk about especially since she wasn’t speaking to me.

“What else is there to say? She lived with me growing up back in Miami.”

“Nessa’s from Miami?” Erica asked. I nodded slowly shortly to realize they know Vanessa. Not Christina. “That’s funny I thought she lived in LA all her life,” Erica said sipping her drink.

“Well, you know. She lived in LA for a while; it probably just feels like she lived there all her life. She hasn’t been to Florida in so long you know?” I said smiling the topic off. I continued eating my steak and shrimp platter. Man was this food good.
