Chapter 10

(Darryl POV)

~One Week Later~

There was finally some peace and quiet in the house. Don’t get me wrong, I loved being around my mom and little sister and brother but I was only used to dealing with Keith. Little Christina and KJ was a triple portion. Mom, Ron, Chase and Kenneth took the kids out to Six Flags for the whole day. That was exactly the break I needed. I didn’t know how things were playing out with Chase and Kenny, and honestly as far as Kenny was concerned, I didn’t care. Stupid! Stupid! Stupid! How did I not know he was still married? And God just had to punish me by making him the husband of my biological mother! Ugh, my life was a mess. What kind of daughter am I? It’s really not my fault. I know I seem rather…calm about all this. TI wasn’t. I had to play calm. Deep inside, I was dying. Every time I looked at my mother’s smile when she’s with Kenny, I died just one more time. It tormented me from the very second I found out they were married. It torments me every time I look at my son’s face. God, everyone who paid close enough attention could tell he was Kenny’s. For Christ’s sake, Keith looked just like his father. Especially with those eyes. God. There was not one day I looked in those eyes and not think about Kenneth. Goodness. Why did Kenny have to be such a bastard!

“Darryyyyyl!” Beep! Beep! I heard Mia yell from my window. I ran out the house from the backdoor making all sorts of gestures for Mia to stop her racket. “Are you crazy? You’re gonna get me caught!” I whispered rushing to the car with my slippers on my feet and my hees and purse in hand. My turquoise boulee cut out dress was barely all the way on. “I told you to hurry up,” she whined as I hopped in her black BMW convertible. “You couldn’t wait for two minutes?”

“Can Drake wait for two minutes???” she spazzed pulling off. She was pressed to get to the club tonight. Drizzy was her obsession. Personally, he wasn’t that fine to me. I’ll give him his props though, the brutha was deep. Mia would give anything for him to be her baby daddy. SMH. That’s why she dragged me with her to Arkadia. It was the hottest club in Miami. Mia had it all mapped out. Drake’s concert was earlier today which Mia wanted tickets to desperately.  However, instead of being stalker fans and bum rushing into his concert, we did the smart thing. Every celebrity who came to Miami partied at Arkadia. And Mia knew for a fact, Drizzy was gonna be down to party after a long days work. “How do you know he’s gonna be there?” I asked slipping out of my fluffy blue slippers and into my black Giuseppe Zanotti heels. “Girl! Cuz that’s my baby! We’re in sync. I know where he wanna party!” I shook my head thinking of what a waste of a night I set myself up for. Then again, celebs party at Arkadia every night. Who knows I might see Chris Brown. “Besides, he confirmed it on twitter!” she said whipping her phone out which was already open to Drake’s tweet. “Shot out to Miami for showing endless love. I do it for ya’ll! Next stop, Arkadia. Miami come party with your boy!” I shrieked! “Oh my God I’m gonna meet Drake!” I screamed.

“What? I thought you ain’t like Drake!” she said with some salt on her attitude.

“Are you kidding? I love Drake. His music does shit for me, ya feel me?” She looked at me. I swear, can’t nobody like anything she likes without it being an issue. “I’m just saying, he’s not all that good looking.”

“Are you gay? He’s the sexiest man on this galaxy!”

“Pause! You just escalated that. He can rap his ass off, but he looks like a turtle honey,” I said busting her little bubble. She tried to hold a straight face and broke out in a laugh. “Exactly. Cuz you know it’s true,” I said laughing along.

“Okay. He may have some slight turtle features…but he’s a sexy turtle.” We finally got in the vicinity of Arkadia. I died. That line. Oh my God, that line! We’d be standing there til 5 AM long as it was! “Uh-uh! I love me some Drake but damn! Turn the car around, we can go party at Mansion.”
