"I don't know if I can do this." Steve said with a tired sigh.

"Nothing to it. You sell a few bonds. Bonds buy bullets. Bullets kill Nazis. You're an American hero." Steve shook his head as he said this.

"It's just not how I pictured getting there." He leaned toward the left to look beyond the curtain at all the people in their seats. He'd never performed or done anything in front of a crowd really and seeing all those faces staring back at him was a bit unnerving. Especially since he had never had any acting experience.

"The Senator has got a lot of pull up on the Hill. You play ball with us, you'll be leading your own platoon in no time." Steve sighed and pulled his mask down over his head. "Take the shield." The man shoved the metal shield into his arms and Steve grudgingly put his arms through the loops. "Go." The stage manager shoved him out from behind the curtain.

The girls were already singing, dancing around the stage. "Who's strong and brave, here to save the American Way?" With a sigh, Steve looked down at his cards strapped to the shield.

"Not all of us can storm a beach or drive a tank but there's still a way all of us can fight." Steve tried not to look nervous and upset but it was hard when he didn't really want to be on stage. He wanted to be on the battlefield.

"Who vows to fight like a man for what's right night and day?"

"Series E Defense Bonds. Each one you buy is a bullet in the barrel of your best guy's gun." Steve moved to the left so he could be out of the girls way.

"Who will campaign door-to-door for America? Carry the flag shore to shore for America? From Hoboken to Spokane The star-spangled man with a plan."

Another three minutes of singing and dancing, on the girls parts, and an explanation about the bail bonds from Steve and they were off the stage. With a heavy sigh, Steve tugged his mask off. His blond hair was askew and he was earning several stares from the ladies in the room who whispered to each other from behind their hands about him.

Everyone had heard about him of course, the man who had chased down that attacker through the streets of New York. He was a soldier, a hero. What was he doing here selling bail bonds? Steve was asking the same questions. And while all the girls had their eyes on him, Steve had his mind on another.

"Come on Cap, time for the pictures." Steve had forgotten. Pictures. Where he would have to hold babies, shake hands with men, put his arm around women and smile at cameras until his cheeks hurt. God he wished he hadn't agreed to do this.

Dear Willow,

I've just finished my first USO show in Buffalo. I've never been this far out of Brooklyn before. It's a little nerve wracking. Buffalo may be the farthest point away from Brooklyn, in New York anyways. I'm sure I'll be much farther out by the end of my tour, as far out as Los Angeles in fact. I was right, I'm touring coast to coast.

In reply to your last letter, I'm glad that you still see me for me. And I'll always be grateful for your positive outlook about me.

I was so happy to see you on Sunday. From what you've told me, you've adjusted well to your life in your new apartment and you're succeeding very well in your job. I couldn't be more proud of you.

When you walked up to the front desk, I was surprised you didn't recognize me at first. But then again, when I saw myself in the mirror, I barely recognized me. Watching the shocked expression on your face was perhaps, the highlight of an amazing day with you.

Your faith in me, despite your unwillingness to want me to go overseas, is astounding. You are truly an amazing women.

Don't worry about not having heard from Bucky I talked to the Colonel and he informed me that receiving and sending letters to men overseas might take a while. You'll hear from him soon,

Of course, I'll make sure to take pictures for you. I'm getting paid for this job I'm doing and I'll be more than happy to buy one of those more portable cameras. I can't see myself lugging around one of those big ones you need a stand for. But I would do it for you.

If I do make any movies, I promise to see them with you.

Well the ladies with me in the show seem to have taken a liking to me. They're nice girls but they're not you. I've told them I'm taken.

As for Agent Carter, your name was mentioned when I noticed we were driving by your apartment. I mentioned how you were a journalist and how alike you too were. Do I detect a hint of jealousy? If so, you have nothing to be worried about. If not, you still have nothing to worry about.

I miss and love you as well.

Roses may die
And birds will fly
But if there's one thing I know
It is you that I cant let go.

Love,
Steven Rogers
