"Willow, Steve is here." Willow stopped typing immediately and looked up at Anne with a brilliant smile. Anne laughed a little as she watched Willow stand immediately and rush towards the front of the office. As she rounded a corner, Willow spotted him and she held her breath. Was it possible for him to look even more handsome than the last time she had see him?
"Willow." Steve said. Willow focused back in on the man before her. With a widening smile she walked swiftly towards him and opened her arms. Steve wrapped his arms around her tightly. Steve had to resist the urge to pick her up and swing her around.
"I've missed you so much." Willow whispered kissing his cheek before pulling back and kissing him fully.
"I've missed you too." Steve murmured letting go of her a little but leaving his hands on her waist. Willow had to lower her hands so that they were on his biceps. She wasn't tall enough now to keep her hands on his shoulders.
"I can't believe you're finally here." Willow said breathlessly, unable to stop smiling.
"I can't either." Then they just stared at each other. They had spent so many months apart and a lot needed to be said but now that they were right in front of each other, words had escaped them. But everything was there in their eyes.
"Willow, would you like to take your lunch break now?" Willow smiled broadly at Jenny at the desk currently.
"Yes, thank you. Let me just grab my things Steve." Going up on her toes, she kissed his cheek and squeezed his hand before rushing off. Steve smiled as the skirt of her dress billowed out behind her.
"She talks about you a lot you know, maybe more than she realizes." Steve turned to Jenny with a small, shy smile.
"She does?" Jenny nodded vigorously.
"She practically shines talking about you and how you're Captain America, touring the nation to gain support for our troops over seas." I shrugged.
"It's nothing really."
"But it is Steve, you are helping this country. You don't realize it but you are." As she finished speaking, Willow walked back up, putting her hat on her head and tugging on her gloves.
"Ready to go?" She asked Steve, linking her arm through his.
"Of course."
The pair ended up at the dinner, as they always did. It was close to Willow's work and a great place to eat at. Sitting down in a secluded booth, they both ordered coffee, decafe and regular before holding hands across the table in silence. Steve ran is thumb over Willow's knuckles slowly. He didn't know where to begin. What did he start with? Willow's feelings hadn't changed, she had kissed him first. That was a surprise.
Willow was wondering when she should tell him. She had bad news. Two portions of it. She wasn't sure which one to start with. She kind of hoped he wouldn't bring it up but that was impossible, if they talked about work, Willow would have to tell him about the message she had received and the death toll that had only gone up. If he asked about Callie...
"So how has work been?" Steve asked softly. Willow sighed and leaned back in her seat. "What is it? I think in your last letter you were talking about the murders.. I'm sorry about Allen." Steve squeezed Willow's hand and she waved him away lightly with her other.
"It's... It's fine. He was a good man. He didn't deserve to die like that." Willow stopped, not wanting to move further on the matter.
"We don't have to talk about it." Willow shook her head as Steve spoke.
"No, we have to. I have to tell you something." Letting go of Steve's hand momentarily, Willow reached into her bag and pulled out an envelope, opening it up, she revealed to Steve the messages she had been receiving about the murders. There were only three so far, each one more chilling than the last.
