Nani POV
The bell rang and I gathered my stuff, walking out with Cali. We had 3 more classes together, and lunch. So she's pretty much been the only person I talk with at school.
We walked into English and sat down. "I really like the book we're reading" I said, pulling my binder out.
"What page are you on?" She asked.
"511." I spoke.
"Nani you've only been here for a week and you've read that much? The class is still in the 300s and we got that book 2 weeks ago" she laughed a little.
Truth is, I'm actually very smart. People always think that because I'm what they would call "pretty", that I don't have any intelligence. Which annoys the hell out of me.
I was top 10 percent at my old school in New York. But then again, nobody really tried at my old school, so it was easy to achieve.
I smiled and our teacher began lecturing us about chapter 22.
My phone vibrated, indicating that I got a text.
Jacob (12:22 pm): Wanna go get food and chill after school?
I rolled my eyes and locked my phone, ignoring him.
This whole week, he's literally acted like he doesn't know me, or fuck with me. He walks with me from the parking lot to the entrance, and once we enter, he walks off and acts like a stranger.
Whenever he talks to me, it's through text. He'll ask to hangout after school and I'll give him an excuse as to why I can't.
Me and Jacob were never anything serious. But if you can make out with me in my car, then you can at least hold my hand in the damn hallways, or wave when you see me.
I wasn't gonna sweat it though. I officially made it through the week, and Cali was taking me to a party tonight, to meet some of her other friends.
I was going to enjoy myself and become more acquainted with Houston.
The day flew by quick and I was on my way to my car to drive home and get ready.
"Nani!" I turned around and saw Jacob running to catch up to me. I stopped and waited for him to catch up to me.
"What?" I asked.
"You get my text ma?" He licked his lips.
"Yeah I got it."
"Sooo?
"Sooo I can't. I have to study and stuff." I folded my arms. He smacked his teeth and shifted a little.
"Man wassup with you Nani? This whole week you been acting like you don't wanna chill." His voice was getting louder causing people to look. He noticed them looking and grabbed my arm, pulling me into his car with him.
"See, this is why!" I motioned around us. "Why are you acting like you can't be seen associating with me?"
"What are you talking about Nani" he sighed.
"You act like you don't fucking know who I am!" I shouted.
"Calm down"
"No! Don't think you can kiss all up on my ass when we alone and not say shit to me at school. What the fuck is this jacob? What are we?"
"We friends" he mumbled.
Ouch.
I laughed a little. "Some fucking friends we are HUH?" I clapped my hands and got out, slamming the door behind me. I walked to my car and got in, driving off.
I'm stupid as hell.
I didn't even really know a thing about him, it's only been a week and somehow I caught myself liking his wannabe hood ass.
He's the one that came up to me that first day. He's the one that skipped school to chill with me. And he wants to act like he can just friend zone my ass? I sped home and pulled up to the drive way. I got out and slammed the door, stomping up the stairs.
"Nani!" My mom called.
"Nani Cataleya why are you stomping up the stairs? What's wrong" I heard her footsteps to my bedroom.
"Nothing mommy. Just a long day of school." She grabbed my face and tilted my head up a little, smiling.
"Nani Maka" she spoke.
Beautiful eyes.
"Thank you mommy, you tell me everyday" I laughed a little.
"Well, I want you to know how beautiful you are." My mother was beautiful to say the least. She had curly hair that touched her butt, and clear skin with a pretty mole near her eye. She calls it her beauty mark.
I love everything about my mother.
"So, what are plans for you today?"
She's gotten so much better at English, but nonetheless her hawaain accent was still very present.
"I'm going to a party tonight" she rose an eyebrow. "Nani be safe. I took you out of New York for reason" she pointed her pretty manicured bail at me.
"I know mommy, it's gonna be safe I promise. Just a few friends." I got up and searched my closet for an outfit. I found a white sundress and dressed it up with gold accessories. We were going to this beach house near galveston so I packed over night clothes. "Mommy!" I called.
"Ae'?" (Yes?)
"I'll be staying the night with my friend, Cali!" I spoke.
"Okay baby!"
I took a quick shower and lotioned my body. I slipped the dress on along with gold hoops and bracelets. I put on my gold and white sandals and applied a little mascara.
I didn't wear much makeup, mostly because my mom didn't believe in it. She always says beautify cannot be found in a bottle.
I looked in the mirror and examined myself. I looked good.
I smiled and grabbed my bag and keys, hopefully this weekend will go as planned.
