Nani POV
Walking into school the next Monday, I try my hardest to avoid seeing Melissa or Jacob.
I don't know what she told him, or if she even told him anything but I didn't want to think or talk about what happened last weekend. It was scary and I'm still a little shaken up from it.
Walking into first period, I sit in my seat and place my headphones in with my head down. I hear the bell ring and decide to sleep, especially since I taught myself what we are learning already.
"Nani." I look up and see the teacher tap me on my folder.
"Yes?"
"Take your headphones out and pay attention please."
"I know this already." I mumbled, taking on earphone out of my ear.
"Do you?" She said smartly, crossing her arms. "Alright then, help us out. What's the answer to number 4?" She tapped the problem on the board. I can tell that she thinks I'm lying, but I really am too smart for this class.
I glance at the problem, biting my bottom lip.
"1098 root 13 squared." I said. She dropped her jaw a little but tried to hide it.
"You forgot the negative." She said smartly.
"Well actually, you did the inverse cosine, therefore it's positive. Nice try though." I snapped back before putting my earphone back into my ear.
I feel everyone staring at me, especially Jacob. I ignore it and lay my head back down until the bell rings.
Once it does, I rush to my locker to meet Cali. Besides my mom, she's the only person I have right now.
"Hey girly, how you feeling?"
"Alright. Still having trouble sleeping."
"Well I offered to let you sleep in my bed but you insisted on the guest room."
Since my mom was still on a business trip, I've been staying at Cali's. I was scared to be alone. I felt like I've invaded her space enough so I've just been sleeping in her guest room.
"I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable."
"Uncomfortable? I have a king size bed, Nani. There's enough space for 3 other people." She flipped her blonde hair over her shoulder, something she tends to do a lot. If you didn't know her, you'd think she was a stuck up bitch, just because of the way she carries herself.
"I guess." I shrug as we head to second period. Me and Cali sit down and I raised my hand.
"Can I go use the restroom?"
The teacher nodded and I stood up, walking out into the hallway. I roll my eyes as I see Jacob up ahead of me.
I have to pass him in order to get to the bathroom, but I'm really not feeling it.I decide to turn right and take the long way. I roll my eyes when I hear his footsteps.
"Nani!" He yells after me.
I roll my eyes and walk even faster. Thank God I wore my Nike's today.
I feel him grab my arm and turn me around.
"Nani! Fuck is wrong with you? Don't you hear me calling you?" I turn around, looking for someone else in the hallway.
There had to be someone else around, because I know damn well he wasn't speaking to me.
"Jacob let me go." I said as calmly as I knew how. He continued to hold my wrist and I counted to ten.
"Jacob, LET ME GO!" I yell just as a teacher walks by. He gives us a weird look before he continues walking. I feel Jacob grab and pull me into a closet. It's dark and I cannot see anything at all.
