Nani POV
Sighing, I locked the front door back, walking up the stairs. Haya was sitting on my bed scrolling through her phone. She looked up and smiled weakly at me.
"Hey." She smiled, patting the bed next to her.
"Hey." I slowly but surely make my way to the bed, ignoring the pain that was shooting through my legs. I take a seat next to her and scoot away because if I get too close I will punch her before I give her a chance to explain.
"So what's up?" I ask, faking a smile.
"I just wanted to tell you something that happened."
"Alright."
"Well um....it was like the middle of the night. Maybe 2 or 3....." She fiddled with her fingers.
"Mhm."
"And I was thirsty, so I went to get water. On my way up, Jacob's door opened and he called me in."
I rose and eyebrow, silently laughing. My own "bestfriend" was lying to my face.
"He said he wanted to talk about something serious so I walked in and...well we kissed."
"Did you now?"
"Yeah. I stopped it immediately though. I wasn't going to say anything but it's just been on my mind all day. I'm really sorry."
"Why?"
"It just sucks. He's clearly not loyal, I mean he cheated." She shook her head and I did the same.
"Haya are you sure this is what happened?" She swallowed her spit before nodding.
"I swear."
"I think you're lying."
"What? Y-you don't believe your own bestfriend?" She stood up now, getting in my face.
"Haya I know it's been a minute but you and I both know I don't like when my personal space is invaded."
"Kinda like how Jacob was invading mine last night?"
"Are we being petty now?" I smirked.
"I just see it how it is."
"Kinda like how Jacob only sees me? Kinda like how he doesn't really see you at all? That's why he pushed your ass off the bed when he realized it was you."
Her eyes widened and she had guilt all over her face.
"Nani I-"
"Save it." I put my manicured hand in her face. "Haya I brought you into my house, let you stay here for a week, and this is the result? You take what's mine."
"You're? Nani you said yourself you two weren't together."
"I said it was complicated. And even if we weren't? You knew he was mine. You knew it. So why did you do it?"
"Because you're stupid! You have a good ass guy walking around here waiting for you and you're stringing him along. I can't believe he turned me down for you." She crossed her arms.
"Look who's true colors are coming out. Well Haya, damn right he turned you down. How does it feel to know that?"
"Fuck you Nani." It seemed as if everyone loves saying that to me.
"That's exactly what Jacob did last night. And where were you? Lonely in the fucking guest room. Pack your shit and take your dusty ass back to New York."
"My pleasure." She turned on her heels, stomping to her room. I slammed my door, huffing and pacing the floor. I wanted badly to beat her ass for disrespecting me in my own house. I open my door, walking to my bathroom. I decided to take a shower and kneeled down to look for shampoo when I felt someone yank me from behind. She pulled me back and turned her body, smashing my head into the wall.
"Y-you dumb bitch!" I said through gritted teeth as she continued to sling me by the hair. Grabbing a hold of her neck, I dug my nails into it, feeling grateful for getting them pointy this time. She screamed in pain and threw me, causing me to slide back. My back was now against the banister and she was over me, pushing me back.
"You always thought you were so big and bad. Up and leaving me in New York all alone!" Tears were now falling from her face as she wrapped her hands around my neck. She began to squeeze and I felt my face heat up.
"Would you look at that? Little miss Nani from the Bronx cannot save herself. You always fought other bitches, beating their asses. Why don't you beat mine? I guess you've met your match." Tears streamed down my face as I gasped and gasped for air. No matter how hard I tried, I didn't get any. My eyes slowly started to roll back, until I heard his voice.
Fight, Nani. Fight.
I now can see my father standing next to me, nodding his head. I suddenly gain strength and with everything in me I pry her hands off, head butting her. She fell back and I jumped on top of her sending blows to her face. I now wrap my arms around her neck and squeeze as tight as I can. I'm almost sure that I've killed her until I feel someone pull me up.
"Nani! What the fuck is going on?!" Jacob's loud voice beams through the empty house as Haya coughs and cries, catching her breath.
"Get her out of here! Get her out of here before I fucking kill her!" I feel the vein in my neck pulsating as I continue to cry. Haya ran into her room, packing up her shit and rolling down the stairs with her suitcase.
"Fuck you Nani. Our little friendship was cool but...fuck you." She slams the door and I sigh, leaning against the wall and sliding down.
Jacob kneeled down, frowning.
"Nani what I tell your ass?! Fighting isn't always the goddamn answer!" He raised his voice and I frowned.
"But Jacob she-"
"No buts! Why you so hard headed? Why couldn't you have a normal conversation with her?!"
"She fucking tried to kill me Jacob!!!!" I yell, hopping up.
"And since you don't give a fuck you can leave right along with her!" I run into my room and slam the door, climbing into my covers. All I want is my mom and she's at work as always. She always seemed to be there when I needed her.
I hear the door open and I feel Jacob climb into bed with me. He wraps his arms around me and kisses my shoulder as I cry.
"I'm sorry baby." He sighed.
