Omniscient POV
Cali got out of her car, knocking on the door. Nani was riding with her today so Haya could have transportation if needed.
"Hey Cal." Jacob opened the door, still in his pajamas.
"You not going to school today?"
"I am. Not tryna take that test 1st period." He laughed, letting her in. Cali waited on the couch while jacob walked back up the stairs. He bumped into Haya.
"Shit, my bad." He looked her up and down and quickly looked away. She had on short shorts with a crop top and no bra.
"You good. You going to school?" She leaned against the banister as Jacob looked down at his phone.
"Yeah, ima just be running a little late."
"Cool." She turned around, going back into her guest room.
Nani then came out of the bathroom, fluffing her curls. She stopped, staring at Jacob.
"Goodmorning." Jacob whispered.
"What's so good about it?" She said back, looking down. Jacob shook his head. He wasn't about to let Nani continue to play victim months later. Not being together was hurting him just as much if not more since it was his fault. She wasn't the only miserable one.
Nani rolled her eyes, walking down the stairs, smiling at Cali.
"Hey girl, sorry I was finishing my hair."
"You're good. You ready?"
"Mhm. Bye Haya!" Nani yelled before leaving out behind Cali.
Getting inside Cali's car, Nani sighed. "Finally. The tension is so thick in that house."
"Why?"
"I don't know. Everyone is acting so stand offish. Even Haya was being a little weird."
"How long have you known her?" Cali asked, backing out and turning onto the street.
"I don't know...3 maybe 4 years? Why?"
"I've just been noticing stuff about her."
"Like?"
"She just seems really intrigued by Jacob." Cali admitted. She didn't want to say anything but Nani was her friend, and she felt that it was necessary.
"What do you mean?" Nani frowned.
"At dinner last night, she was staring. I learned in psychology a few involuntary habits that people do when they want someone, she did a lot of those."
"Cali that stupid psychology class is bullshit."
"I'm just say-"
"What exactly are you saying?" Nani cut Cali off.
"I'm saying, just be careful. You and Jacob are trying to get back on track an-"
"Me and who?"
"Jacob."
"Exactly. Me and Jacob. Not you. Just stay out of it? You pressed for nothing. Making dumb ass observations." Nani's tone became even more harsh and Cali turned sharply into the parking lot. She was tired of being nice and holding her tongue when Nani wasn't doing the same.
"Get out." Cali spat.
"But this isn't where you park."
"Get. Out." Cali said again. "If you're gonna be disrepectful get the hell out." Nani rose an eyebrow. She'd never seen Cali be this rude to anyone, not even Melissa.
