Nani POV

"Thank God practice was canceled today." Cali groaned as walked through the halls. Our last period was over and we were making our way to the parking lot.

"I know. What are you doing after school?"

"Going to the mall."

"Without me?" I placed my hand on my chest and gasped.

"Yessss. Aiden wants to take me."

"Ohhhhh. Just like how he wanted to take you to the movies last week?"

"Mhm."

"And skating the week before that?"

"Yes Nani."

"Sounds like y'all are getting pretty close to me." I nudged her, smirking.

"No!" She stopped in her tracks before biting her bottom lip.

"Okay maybe? I don't know. He's really sweet." I had only met Aiden once, at that beach house we went to in Galveston months ago. He was cute and seemed like a nice guy.

"As long as you're happy I am." I smiled as we made it to the exit. I looked around for Jacob since I haven't really talked to him today. He was acting a little strange first period.

"Searching for your boyfriend?" Cali asked.

"I don't believe I have one of those." I rolled my eyes just as Aiden's car pulled up.

"I'll see you later?" Calk asked.

I nodded before waving. "Text me!"

She got in his car and drove off. I sped up to catch up to Jacob, who's hands were in his pockets.

"Hey Jacob." He looked over at me and smiled.

"Wassup Nani?"

"You wanna chill today?" He rose an eyebrow. We had been hanging out a lot lately but it was always Jacob who asked me. I guess he could sense that our friendship was making hella progress.

"I mean only if you wa-"

"You know I do." He smirked just as we made it to his car. "Where'd you park?"

"My mom dropped me off today."

"Oh." He opened his passenger door for me and I thanked him before getting in. He jogs around and hops in and I frown when I noticed how tired and stressed out he looks.

"Jacob you sure you're okay?"

"Yeah."

I turn around to put my backpack in the backseat and frowned. I saw Jacob's toothbrush, a pillow, and a blanket.

I rolled my eyes and turned back around, crossing my arms.

"Jacob."

"Hm?"

He turned into the parking lot of Baskin Robins for ice cream.

"What exactly happened after you stormed out my house last night?"

He cleared his throat and parked, turning the car off.

"Me and my dad had a talk. Nothing big."

"It must've been a pretty intense talk, considering the fact that you slept in your car lastnight!" My voice came out louder then intended.

"I'm really fine Nani, why you tripping?"

"Because you could've called me! I have 3 guest rooms Jacob that's plenty of room for you."

"I don't need anybody's help."

"Stop acting all hard. It's okay to need help sometimes."

"Well I don't want any."

"You're staying with me."

He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

"Nani I ain't staying with you and that's final."

Nani POV

"Where do I put my stuff?"

"Over here. This room is yours." My mom smiled as Jacob rolled his suitcase to his new room. It was across the hall from mine.

"Thank you so much Mommy."

She brushed him off. "No problem. Oe, ua like me ohana."

"She said you are like family." I whispered in his ear. A soft smile grew on Jacob's face and I could tell he was happy to hear that.

"If you need anything, call me."

"Yes ma'am." He smiled as she left the room.

"This a nice ass guest room." I nodded and plopped down on the bed. He sat beside me and I laid my head on his shoulder.

"Nani..." He whispered.

"Hm?"

"What are we doing?"

"Sitting." I laughed nervously, not sure of what he meant.

"Nah, I mean what is this? It's clear you riding for me, so why act like we just friends?"

"Jacob you need to understand that what you did was wrong."

"Aight, I get that."

"If I just run back to you with the blink of an eye, you will think it's okay to do shit like that to me. You need to learn your lesson."

"Nani it's been two damn months! I learned my lesson. Make up your mind." He huffed and his voice became louder.

I stood up, frowning. "Newsflash, you're the one that fucked up, not me. I should be the one giving you all ultimatums, not the other way around."

"All I'm saying is that I'm trying, the ball is in your court."

Did I want to be with him? Yes. We are close to getting back together. But if he thinks things are working on his time then he's wrong.

"Jacob you have me completely fucked up, you're making it worse for yourself."

"I'm just tired of playing games with you Nani."

"Aight."

"What you mean aight?"

"If you tired then let's stop."

"Meaning?"

"Meaning fuck you." I stormed out of his room and into mine, slamming the door. I lock it and strip my clothes, getting into bed.

Who the hell does he think he is? He can't expect hopping back into a relationship with him to be easy, because it's far from that.

"Nani!!!" I hear my mom yell my name and I groan, throwing the covers off of me. I slip on a tshirt and shorts and make my way downstairs. On the way there, I notice Jacob's door is now closed.

I roll my eyes before meeting my mom in the kitchen.

"Yes mommy?"

"Everything ok? I hear yelling."

"Everything is fine mommy."

"Remember Haya comes in town Tommorow, clean up the guest room and bathroom for her."

"Yes mommy."

"Ok, and smile, you're too pretty to frown. You want bad frown lines?" She lifted my chin as the words flew off of her Hawaiian tongue.

"No mommy, I don't." I smile and she kisses my cheek. She stares at me with sad, yet satisfying eyes.

"Nani Maka" she spoke. (Beautiful eyes)

"Thank you mommy." I smiled, heading back upstairs to take a nap.
