Nani POV

"Alright everybody I want you to meet Melissa. She auditioned privately and is now on the team as well." Our coach introduced her as everyone but me and Cali clapped.

"Here we go." Cali mumbled and rolled her eyes as we saw Melissa walking over to us.

"Hello you two." She smiled.

I examined her body. Her spandex shorts really showed off her curves and small frame. I may not like her, but I will admit that she's far from ugly.

"What do you want Melissa?" Cali asked annoyed.

"I just wanted to make sure you too were well acquainted with me, being that we will be seeing a lot of eachother now." She flipped her brown hair over her shoulder and I caught a whiff of her shampoo.

"Will we?" Cali asked sarcastically.

"Indeed." She spoke before looking over at me.

"Hello Brooklyn."

"Excuse me?"

"Isn't that the name of the little hood  you're from?"

I bit the inside of my cheek, slowly counting to 10.

"I'm from The Bronx, sweetheart." I smiled, grabbing Cali and pulling her to the other side of the room. If I stayed any longer she was gonna see how people in the east coast like to handle things.

"Nani no way am I staying on this team with that bitch." Cali scoffed.

"You are. You really gonna let her run you away? Hell nah."

Cali looked in Melissa's direction before nodded. "Yeah, you're right." We high fived and began stretching for practice.

"Good work ladies." Our coach said as we were dismissed. I grabbed my stuff and waited for Cali to pee so we could head to my house to shower and change. Tonight we were going to some girl's party. I wasn't too fond of partying much. But Cali practically begged me so that was the plan for the night.

My thoughts were interrupted when Cali joined me to walk outside. Melissa was in front of us and Jacob's all white Range Rover sped up in front of us. I stepped back, frowning.

His windows were down and Kanye's Ultra Light Beams was blasting through his speakers. He didn't notice me yet, which was good on my part.

Melissa made sure to look back at the both of us before waving and walking towards the car. Jacob finally looked over and his eyes met mine.

"Wassup Cali?" He said, causing Cali to look over at me. She waved and smiled while I started walked over to my car. I felt his eyes on me but I refused to speak to him.

"Nani! Slow down girl!" Cali yelled, running after me.

Once she got in the passenger seat of my car, she put her seatbelt on while I started the ignition.

"He was totally staring at your ass."

I scoffed before rolling my eyes. "I'm sure Melissa is giving him enough ass as is, he doesn't need any business with mine."

Cali laughed a little. "You are so petty Nani."

"I know. It's my middle name."

I backed out of the school parking lot and looked over to see Cali in deep thought.

"Cali what's wrong?"

"I thought your middle name was Cataleya?" I busted out laughing and patted her shoulder.

"You truly are a blonde sometimes."

She rolled her eyes before joining me in laughter.

Once at my house, Cali used my guest shower to get ready while I stayed in my room. I danced along to Beyonce's new song, looking at myself in the mirror.

"My daddy Alabama, mama Louisiana. You mix that negro with that creole make a Texas bamaaaa." I moved my hips to the beat, making up my own choreography. I was in a bra and jeans, trying to find a cute shirt.

I settled on a simple black tee with an army green bomber jacket.

"Cute." I said in the mirror, looking att my outfit.

Cali joined me in my room to do makeup and we were both finally ready.

"Damn Nani, you look so fine!" Cali complimented.

"Thank you."

I pulled out my phone to take a few selfies. I must admit, I did my makeup pretty well.

I looked over to see Cali taking selfies too

Once we were both done we grabbed our purses to head out.

My mom was out of town so I locked up, turning all the lights out.

"You know where her house is?" I asked Cali who was typing away on her phone.

"Uhhh. Yeah. Let me drive."

I tossed her the keys and got into the passenger seat. Hopefully tonight goes good.
