The air conditioning inside the auditorium was bordering on arctic, but Roseanne didn't mind one bit. She pulled the thick sleeves of her crimson bomber jacket down over her knuckles, carefully smoothing the front of her dark navy tee that matched the vibrant Spider-Man motif plastered across the giant theater screen. Beside her, Lisa was practically vibrating in her seat, her own red-and-blue varsity jacket bright against the dim light as the end credits rolled over a sea of cheering fans.

Roseanne's phone buzzed in her palm, a familiar, rhythmic double-vibration that instantly pulled her attention away from the scrolling names on screen.

Jennie (12:42 PM):
did peter parker survive or do i need to come pick you up off the floor?

A soft, helpless curve touched Roseanne's lips. She snapped a quick selfie with Lisa, who was dramatically clutching her heart with two thumbs-up signs in the background, and tapped out a reply.

Roseanne (12:43 PM):

he survived but lisa didn't. we're gonna wander around the mall for a bit! might look for that new hot wheels car collection i told you about 🏎️

Jennie (12:44 PM):
you are nineteen years old who is actually eight. go get your toy cars, park. send pictures when you find the cool ones.

Roseanne let out a quiet giggle, clutching her phone to her chest for a brief second before tucking it into her pocket. She and Lisa navigated the post-movie crowd spilling out into the sprawling, four-story shopping complex.

"You're glowing so hard it's actually disgusting," Lisa muttered, slinging an arm heavily over Roseanne's shoulders as they strolled past the wide glass storefronts. "You've been checking your screen every five seconds since the previews started. I'm surprised you even watched the film."

"I was watching!" Roseanne scoffed, though the flush spreading across her cheeks betrayed her instantly. "I'm just... keeping her updated."

"Right. 'Keeping her updated','" Lisa echoed in a teasing, high-pitched tone, nudging her side.

They were approaching the main concourse when a striking flash of color caught Roseanne's eye. Nestled quietly between an upscale clothing boutique and a bakery was a small, artisanal florist shop. Right at the front display, bathed in warm spotlight, sat a tall crystal vase holding a fresh batch of deep, velvety blue roses, rare, vibrant, and strikingly breathtaking.

Roseanne stopped dead in her tracks.

Before Lisa could even ask what was wrong, Roseanne veered sharply to the right, almost sprinting into the store.

"Woah, woah! Hey!" Lisa blinked, stumbling forward before rushing in after her. "What happened? Is there a fire?"

Roseanne was already leaning over the glass counter, her eyes wide with unadulterated focus as she pointed at the display. "Hi! Good afternoon! Could I please get a full bouquet of those blue roses? Wrapped nicely with a white silk ribbon?"

Lisa stood beside her, her head tilted in absolute bewilderment as the florist nodded warmly and began selecting the stems. "Rosie... do you mean now now? We were supposed to go look at those hot wheels."

Roseanne turned around, a soft, helpless smile spreading across her face as she shrugged. "Change of plans, I'm going to Jennie's house."

Lisa stared at her for three long seconds before letting out a loud, dramatic sigh, shaking her head in fond disbelief. "You are so far gone, girl. We live on the complete opposite side of the city. Her house is almost a two-hour ride from here."

"I know," Roseanne beamed, pulling out her card to pay without an ounce of hesitation.

"You used to spend our senior high school days sleeping off hangovers, rebelling against your parents, and missing curfew," Lisa said gently, her expression softening into genuine affection as she watched Roseanne carefully cradle the freshly wrapped, fragrant bouquet. "Look at you now. Running across the city just to drop off flowers on a Monday afternoon."
