"Is this some kind of joke?" Dante was confused. He thought he had stopped his time with Layla to be told of another target, but instead was stopped to find nothing but emptiness. "What the hell are you trying to do?" Suddenly the Catalysts appeared. They surrounded Dante like usual. "We are keeping you focused. That girl is a distraction to your work Dante." Dante began to get mad with them. He knew what he was doing. "Layla is not a distraction. As you can tell i work just fine. If this even is work." "The girl is a distraction. She cant know your secret Dante. The mark on your arm makes it so. By taking that mark you made a vow."
"Fuck the symbol." Dante said, now enraged. "The only reason i decided to join was to make a difference. A difference I barely know anything about." Dante started to pace as his rant continued. "What fucking change is there? I cant see any. All I see is fucking flashes and god damn blood everywhere." "Calm down Dante." One of the Catalysts said. "No. Fuck you. I want to know what the hell im killing for."
The Catalysts looked at one another and nodded. They threw a news article cut out on the ground. It showed of a group of people standing in front of a symbol. Some of the people were crossed out with read or black Xs. "New World Order." Dante read. "The Saints? These are the people I've been killing? Some people who think they can own the world?" Dante was all but satisfied with this answer. "Not think they can, they are." One of the Catalysts said. "While you were held captive from the outside world alot of things have happened. We know you heard of them once, but did not know what they have done."
Dante looked down on the paper and noticed that the man they said who killed the protesters was on there in the middle. "This is why you showed me that article. So I would want the urge to change it." The Catalysts nodded at Dante's relization.
"The Saints were a group of people who decided that their goal would be to change the world. To make it better. But they did all but that. You are killing the Saints who were just in your area. There is much more, in many other places." The Catalysts said. Dante thought for a while on what he just heard. "So I am fighting for something." Dante said to himself.
"There is more too it than just to change what was broken. We wanted you specifically for more than just your skill and your courage. But we wanted you because of your history." The Catalyst said. Dante looked at him curiously. "What do you mean? I have no history. Im just an orphan." "In time you will begin to understand."
The Catalysts began to fade away. "Wait. Where are you going? You cant just leave me with questions unanswered." Dante tried to reach for one of them as they disappeared into thin air. Dante punched the wall next to him. "Dammit!" He yelled. A flash stung through Dante's head. He saw an image of a baby being born. It wasn't a pleasant sight. Dante rubbed his temples, ignoring the image. "Fucking migraines." He said
