The oppressive silence hanging inside Apartment 4B was far heavier than any shouting match could ever be.

With their university graduation only a few short weeks away, the looming realities of their post-academic careers had finally crashed into their world. The conflict had begun over a seemingly straightforward decision: the location of their post-graduation living arrangements.

Jennie had found an artistic, sunlit loft located in a vibrant, bustling arts district. A spot that was closer to her potential design agency and offered the social energy she thrived on. But Roseanne, bound by her rigid protocols, had flatly refused to consider it. She had already calculated an apartment closer to the university physics laboratory, prioritizing low decibel levels, minimal foot traffic, and proximity to her research facilities.

When Jennie gently asked Roseanne to compromise, suggesting they look for a middle ground, Roseanne had stood her ground with an unyielding, clinical firmness. She presented spreadsheets, commute vectors, and noise-frequency data, dismissing Jennie's desire for a lively neighborhood as an unnecessary, illogical variable.

That was when Jennie finally snapped. "It is not just about logistics, Roseanne! It is about our life together! You cannot calculate every single aspect of our future on a spreadsheet and expect me to just fall into line! Relationships require compromise, not strict adherence to your parameters!"

Roseanne, overwhelmed by the sudden emotional friction and feeling her carefully constructed sense of control slipping away, snapped right back, her velvety voice tight and unnaturally sharp. "My calculations are designed to ensure long-term stability and efficiency for both of us! Ignoring data in favor of transient emotional preferences is fundamentally irrational, Jennie!"

Jennie had stared at her with wounded, tear-filled eyes, grabbed her coat, and walked out the door without another word.

For the first time in their relationship, the conflict did not resolve within minutes. Hours passed, stretching into a painful evening.

Back in the apartment, Roseanne sat at the dining table, staring blankly at her laptop screen. A heavy, suffocating weight rested squarely in the center of her chest, a physical ache so intense that she could barely draw a proper breath. Her mind was racing in hyper-analytical loops, yet she could not find an equation to solve the devastating hollow feeling in her heart.

Lisa, sitting across from her on the floor, watched her best friend with quiet sympathy before speaking up. "Chaeng, you look like your engine just seized."

"My thoracic cavity is experiencing a persistent, severe constriction," Roseanne whispered, her voice trembling slightly as she pushed her glasses up her nose. "My cognitive functions are failing to process why a logical disagreement regarding spatial coordinates has induced this level of physiological distress."

Lisa leaned forward, resting her elbows on the table, carefully choosing her words. "See it this way, Chaeng. Think about Newton's third law, or how two celestial bodies orbit each other. In a binary star system, if one star tries to force the other to orbit entirely around its own immovable axis without adjusting its own gravitational pull, the entire system collapses into a supernova. Compromise isn't a failure of logic, Rosie. It's orbital mechanics. It's adjusting your trajectory so both of you stay in a stable, shared orbit. If you refuse to bend your parameters, you lose the system entirely. And Jennie is your system."

Roseanne went completely still, Lisa's words echoing through her mind. Her dark eyes widened slightly behind her lenses as the realization washed over her with devastating clarity. Her strict rules and demand for total predictability were threatening to destroy the single most important constant in her life.
