*Somewhere in Northern New Mexico*
*The Next Night*So we now have been driving for almost 15 hours now in Fetzer's Eclipse. It's about 10 at night and the car is holding up for the 1,800 mile road trip.
The purple tinted LED headlights shine brightly and illuminate the desolate interstate we are on, while the speedometer reads 100mph. We have been making good time driving this way. I have been surviving off of Monsters and gas station pizza because I have driven the whole way so far.
I look over at Alexa, who's curled up in a ball and sleeping soundly. Our hands are still locked together even though she is out.
Quietly, I have been playing softly a two hour playlist of slow songs to help Alexa sleep. The huge subs in back perfectly play the music and keep the mood quiet in the car.
As I drive down the interstate, my phone starts to vibrate in the cup holder, behind the shifter. It doesn't stop like it usually does for a text, so it has to be a call. I pick the phone up with my driving and steer with my knee as I answer the phone.
"Hello?" I answer softly.
"JC? This is your cousin, Lenny?"
"Oh hey. What's up?"
"I'm sorry about Fetzer, man. I wish I could have come, but you know: the risk of muggers, tornado's, asteroids falling out of the sky. The whole deal"
"Really Lenny? Asteroids?" I chuckle.
"Hey shut up! I really am terrified of those damn things now listen!" he rants in my ear. "We have a chance of a lifetime here"
"What is it?" I ask, faking my enthusiasm.
"We are going to hold up the Aria Resort and Casino" he whispers full of enthusiasm.
"WHAT?!" I exclaim and slam the brake to the floor causing the Eclipse to screech to a stop on the shoulder in seconds. Alexa didn't stir an inch. "The Aria... The biggest resort in Vegas?"
"You heard me right... The Aria" Lenny giggles like a little girl.
"How are we going to pull that off?" I ask astonished.
"Just listen...". Lenny explains the whole process to me as I idle the car on the side of I-40. The Aria: this is going to be the biggest thing win or bust in the history of crime. If we do this (I mean when we do this), we will be richer than Donald Trump... Okay not Donald Trump, but still the wealthiest street racers on the face of the earth.
"So who is going to be in on this?" I ask even though I know he just told me.
"You, Alexa Freelander, Pony Keith, Ace Cunningham, Hao Chang and X. I want Alexa in the lead car, followed by you and Pony in the guard cars. Then Hao and X following as distractions" Lenny instructs me over the phone.
"And how much is the hit worth?"
"The grand total... Let's see... Is $65 million and let's say it is split up evenly between us seven would be... $9.3 million. A nice hefty win for all of us" Lenny replies.
"Oh my god man. We are totally in. Have you told everyone else?" I ask enthusiastically.
"Yup and they have already ordered their cars they want. You know since once these cars are used in the hit they will be hotter than hell... Literally" Lenny states matter-of-factly.
"What vehicles did they select?" I ask, trying to take this all in.
"Umm... Lets see" Lenny says. I can hear him typing away on the other end. "Pony ordered a Mitsubishi Evolution VIII fresh out of Japan. Ace selected a 2000 Toyota Supra, while Hao chose Lamborghini Reventon. And X chose the rare Suzuki Hayabusa" Lenny reports.
"Why in the world would Hao choose a Reventon? One of the most rarest Lambo's in the world???" I ask in amazement.
"I have no idea. I thought he was a Mazda guy, not a Lamborghini. But by the way, what do you want?" Lenny asks.
"Oh shit... I don't. Um... How about a 1978 Trans Am?" I request.
"Easy and consider it done. What about Alexa?" Lenny questions.
"I don't know, you'll have to call her" I say.
"Isn't she right next to you?"
"Yeah but she's sleeping"
"Oh. I should have known that. Isn't it about 10?" Lenny asks stupidly.
"Yes it is. You know, you can hack millions of dollars into your own account, but you don't know what time it is?"
"Hey, hey! Anytime is hacking time!" Lenny exclaims laughing in my ear.
"When will the cars be in?" I ask.
"They will be in on Friday on the second to top floor of the Monte Carlo Parking Lot. Everything that will be needed will already be installed in the cars so don't worry about them. And we start our hit on Sunday morning"
"Sounds good, sounds good"
"Oh and one more thing before this call gets tracked by the FBI, you are in charge"
"WHAT?!" I exclaim and the phone clicks off.
