Chapter 37

It had been a while since Yoohyeon saw or hung out with Hana, both being pretty busy with their internships and studies, so she wasn't surprised when she received a call from the girl, asking if she would be free for a sleepover that weekend.

Thankfully, they both found a day free from the hospitals, however, Hana didn't fully know about Yoohyeon looking after Gahyun this past week, so when Yoohyeon said she couldn't stay the night, it became a little difficult to explain the whole situation.

"So, what... You're like a babysitter now?"

The brunette scratched her hair, knowing her friend was direct. But she really did know how to start a conversation huh? "Technically Gahyun is my friend and... I'm kind of watching over a patient too?" By trying to explain, she realized the answer was a bit more complicated than she first thought.

"Okayy..." Hana put down iced coffees for both of them and threw herself on the couch next to where Yoohyeon was already sitting. "And I guess they're paying you? You're literally away from your home for a bit more than a week, I'm sure you're not doing this for free?" She narrowed her eyes, looking a bit more judgemental that Yoohyeon would prefer.

"Well uhm... no? I mean, I didn't ask if they would pay me and they didn't say anything" It honestly wasn't too important for her either. The alternative was being home alone. So being with Gahyun was more fun.

Hana sighed, shaking her head. "I mean, I guess it's fine if you're not having any trouble, I just don't want people to take advantage of you" Hana didn't know Bora or Siyeon, she wouldn't know what kind of people they really are.

With that explanation Yoohyeon eased up a little, happy it was not coming from a judgemental angle. "Always looking out for me huh? I'm not that dumb fragile kid from high school anymore" she slightly punched Hana's arm.

The slightly older girl shrugged, "Not sure about that, honestly" She chuckled, taking her cup and sipping the coffee. "Anyway, anything else new? How's work going"

Yoohyeon gave her an explanation about how she was getting in a routine, every day knowing better and better what was expected of her and what she needed to get better at. "I'm still granted a lot of opportunities to do new things as well" That is what she liked the most, being allowed to explore a lot of different aspects to see what she resonated with most.

"New things? Such as?" Hana was always the kind of person who loved going into details, broad descriptions were never her cup of tea.

Because of that, sometimes Yoohyeon thought she really missed her calling in studying psychology. But with how passionate a nurse she was, she guessed this could work out too. "Oh you know, getting to observe a few operations, getting the responsibility to fill out a full report myself and oh! I got to see a baby be born!"

Hana widened her eyes, sitting up and almost pouring the coffee over both of them. "No way! I still didn't get the chance to! Please tell me how it went. Did it go on for too long? Were there any complications?"

Describing such a thing was actually very difficult. There were a lot of things she could say. "I don't think it went on for too long. It was stressful even without complications but the moment you hear it cry... magical" Her eyes lit up a little, clearly having enjoyed the experience.

Hana smiled, "You were always happy to learn stuff about that topic, I know it's only our first year of internship but-... Do you think gynecology will be on your list?"

Of course Yoohyeon had thought about what she could specialize in later. She knew for sure that she would never be able to be a heart surgeon like Siyeon was. Being a general nurse interested her but the latest experience did leave a big impression on her. "It's definitely on the list. I mean, you know me" she chuckled, sipping from her coffee and making herself a bit more comfortable.
