Sonic had fallen into a sweat-inducing fever within minutes of coming back to the hospital. It would go down every few hours, but eventually spike back up again. Amy had first blamed the trio for dragging him outside, saying that had been the cause of his illness, but according to the doctor, he was probably susceptible to any little bug that he came in contact with. Once Rouge told them all that she and Knuckles had witnessed, Tails insisted on them moving him to a room unknown to the Chaotix as they figured out what to do. It was quite obvious that the trio was after him for some reason, and with that being their second time expressing interest in removing Sonic from the premises, he doubted that it would be the last.

They gathered in Sonic's new room for most of the next day, hashing out a plan with next to no luck. Their debating on what to do was consistently interrupted, however, as the nurses came in and out, and Indigo was getting more frustrated than all of the others put together.

"I still suggest that we relocate him the moment his illness goes away." He declared to the others, and they all sighed.

"Yeah, but this is where all the medicine and professionals in the medical field are." Tails said flatly as though he had given the same answer four or five times; which he had. "Should something go wrong, we won't have the means to take care of him. If we take him to another hospital, they may be able to hack into the system and see where we've taken him to, not to mention that Shadow is still here and shouldn't be up and moving around too much."

"You think too much, Tails," Knuckles complained as he leaned back in his chair and folded his arms behind him. "Nobody's gonna hack into anything."

"When playing with your friends' lives, you must consider every possibility." Tails retorted. He sighed and slumped. "This is usually where Sonic butts in with an idea.."

"Well, let's ask him." Knuckles said as he walked over to Sonic's bedside and poked his cheek. "What do you think we should do?"

Sonic looked up at him, but with his eyes half closed, clammy skin, and dark circles under his eyes, it looked very much like he was giving him a death glare. Knuckles chuckled weakly and backed away, receiving a glare from Amy. She went back to patting his face with a damp cloth and smiled down at him. "Don't worry, Sonic. The medicine should be kicking in soon." She said lovingly and calmly, then threw a glare over her shoulder at everyone else. "But you guys are probably stressing him out. Go fight this out in the cafeteria or something! Seriously, why are you even in here?"

Indigo turned back to the others with a frustrated expression. "We have no alternative other than sitting around here and waiting for things to play out. I will not let him be taken away again, so that is not an option."

Knuckles narrowed his eyes at him. "I know you think you're Sonic's servant or something, but you have no idea how we do things around here. Why don't you butt out?"

Indigo had a somewhat offended look, but exhaled and looked away. Tails heaved a heavy sigh. "How about we focus on what's really going on? Somebody needs to find out just why Chaotix wants him in the first place."

"I never got to answer Knuckles.." Sonic tried to say, but went hopelessly ignored thanks to his quiet, raspy voice.

Knuckles frowned. "Good idea, Tails, we'll just ask them." He said in his passive sarcasm. "Oh wait, I think we already tried that. Several times. They keep their mouth shut and they're persistent about it for whatever reason."

"But think about it," Tails answered after contemplating for a moment. "They usually don't bother with anyone, do they? I mean, not try to attack anyone like this. Unless they found a job that would pay them to do so. And even then, they are our allies, so why would they betray us?"
