Recap:
“Oh stop. You can’t do anything.” He waved my crazy idea off. I pounced on him. We rolled in the sand for a minute before Eli pushed me off him. “Layla.” He said in disbelief.
“What?” I answered innocently, dragging my foot across the sand. Sorin placed his heavy arm around my shoulders.
“Don’t pick fights, Layla. You can win them, but you don’t want to hurt Eli, do you? He’s your friend remember.” He shook his head in amusement.
“Whatever.” I crossed my arms over my chest. “He started it.” I poked my tongue out at Eli.
“Let’s just go home.” Sorin decided grabbing my hand and pulling me away from the natural beauty of the wide expanse of the ocean. The horizon slowly receded as we made our way back to our pack house, my home. As the mansion flooded into my eyesight my mind couldn’t help to wonder where tomorrow would take us. I just hope nothing bad happens. I’m just tired of all these disturbances making my life ten times harder than it should be.

I woke up the next morning sensing an odd feeling stirring inside me. I sat up in bed and touched the spot beside me to find Sorin gone. He left me… Again. I understand that he has a ton of work to do to make sure that our pack is fully prepared for the possible attack we will be experiencing sooner or later, but sometimes I just wish he would at least take me with him. I can help, can’t I?
I flipped the covers off my body, exposing my flesh to the cold air of our bedroom. I shuffled my feet into my slippers and hugged my body to keep warm. Why is the air conditioning so low? I checked the temperature to find it at sixty-nine degrees. I pressed the button until it read seventy-five degrees, where it should’ve been.
A familiar tune began to fill the silent room and I smiled at the lyrics of it.
“Here's a little song I wrote,
You might want to sing it note for note,
Don’t worry, be happy
In every life we have some trouble,
When you worry you make it double
Don’t worry, be happy…”
