The sounds of water dropping from the cracked ceiling awakened me. I gazed around the dark room, realizing I was positioned in the corner of a cell. I looked down at my arms and legs, noticing the bruises and cuts. My throat was dry and itchy, my entire body ached, as if I'd been running a marathon without any rest. What happened?
"Well finally, you're awake." I was startled and looked up to see my father standing outside. "You've been asleep for two days. We have so much work to do and here you are, dozing off."
"What did you do to me?"
"What did I do to you? Nothing. I've just been trying to get the answers I want. The medallion, where is it?"
I turned my head in defiance, ignoring him.
He sighed and took a key out of his pocket, opening the cell door. "Make it easier on yourself, Kenya," He knelt down in front of me, displaying a wide smile, "Just tell me where it is."
I scoffed at him, "Never. All you want is to be in power again. I won't let you use me or the medallion to enslave so many innocent people. Not again. So you might as well just kill me, because you'll never get it out of me." With that, Brutus lost his cool and grabbed my arm, yanking us both up.
"You're so stubborn, you know that?" I smirked. "But it doesn't matter, because I will have my way." He then pulled me out of the cell and we headed down the same hallway, and this time I noticed other cells, some containing other victims. We turned the corner and trekked up a set of stairs that led to a black door. I was so weak that eventually Brutus had to carry me. When we reached the door, he pushed it open, revealing a torn down room.
A few tables were placed out, and covering those tables, scattered paper and tools. In the center of the room was a chair with chains lying beside it. Brutus moved us around four or five men, all wolves. But one being stood out the most, the same man that was there the first time I woke up. My father threw me into the chair, the air was pushed out of my lungs, and the lights in the room burned my eyes.
"Chain her up!" He commanded and two men did as he commanded instantly. I struggled to keep my head up, but kept eye contact with the same man. I knew him, and it came flooding back to me in that moment. He was the one who took Rachael away.
"Brendon?" I murmured as the men stepped back from me and stood ready for the next command, "Brendon Urie?"
"So you do remember me," He retorted, "I mean, you should. You stole Rachael away."
"Because you made her a killing machine," I snapped back
He gasped, placing a hand on his chest in astonishment, "You think I turned her into a killing machine? That's no way to speak of your friend, is it?"
"That wasn't Rachael, that was the evil inside of her."
"Also known as the real her. If anything, I was helping her break out of the cocoon you so kindly forced her into, and allowed her to become who she really is. Like a butterfly. But...a little less beautiful and a little more dark."
"You don't know her or care for her!" I screamed, "You don't force someone you care about to change. Plus, she has much more than her dark magic."
"How many times do I have to tell you? I didn't change her. You did. You and your fucking werewolf friends. And I care very much about her. She's the only person I care about, which says something because, man, am I a heartless asshole. But somehow...I think I love her. And she loves me too. She's just blinded by that bloodsucker she claims she loves."
"You're just a prick, wanting to gain power through her."
"And you don't think that's not what Patrick wants?" He tested me. I stared at him blankly, my jaw clenched as I tried my best not to murder the bastard right then and there. The corner of his lip curled up. "Oh, that's right, because you think he's changed his ways, don't you? That meeting Rachael and 'falling in love with her' made him a better man? He's no different than I am."
"Both of do me a favor and shut the hell up," My father interrupted. We both fell silent. "I brought you here, Urie, because you seem to be useful, so do your job." Brutus pointed in my direction, "Get her to tell me where the medallion is."
He rolled his eyes and sighed, "Fine. God, you're so demanding sometimes." He walked up to me and grabbed my head, one hand on my forehead and the other hand underneath my jaw. I thrashed in the chair but it didn't stop him from tilting my head back. Brendon smiled, "I'd tell you this wasn't going to hurt, but it will." He warned me before closing his eyes and murmuring something incomprehensible under his breath.
The only way I could describe it was that it was like a migraine, but multiplied a thousand times. Images flashed through my head. Pieces of my past. Pictures of battles I fought in, of places I've traveled, and of my life now. He was trying to find the memory of where I hid it. If he kept going, he would find it.
"Stop," I pleaded as Brendon gripped my head and chin harder, causing me to have more vivid visions. I could feel my heart speed up as I remembered all the pain I'd caused. I pulled against the shackles around me until they broke. "Stop it!!!" My wolf began taking over in that instant, my body was hers to command now. She ripped my head out of Brendon's hands, then shoved him away, sending him to the floor.
He quickly got himself back up, his eyes turning black, "You shouldn't have done that, Kenya. You really shouldn't have done that," He growled under his breath, sticking his hands out. But before he could cast his spell, I turned around and jumped out of one of the windows, shattering the glass as I flew through the sky, landing on the ground on all fours. I glanced back over my shoulder to see my father standing in the window, staring down at me. I let out a low growl before darting into the woods.
I flew past trees and jumped over bushes and fallen logs. I only looked behind me once, and saw six figures chasing after me. I stopped, waited for them, and they halted to a stop once they reached me. The six of them made a circle around me so that there was no escape.
I'd gotten out and I wasn't going back.
I lifted a single hand and waved them on. Two ran for me, both hulking men, but they were slow. One swung his arm at me. I ducked, and when I came up, I bared my claws. I stuck them right into his abdomen. I pulled out and turned to do the same with second man standing behind me.
Next came a man and woman. I smirked as I got into a ready stance. The girl punched me square in the face. It didn't phase me, though. She was standing so close that I grabbed her by the throat. I extended my claws again and blood began oozing from her skin, covering my hand. She started choking as I continued squeezing, but before she lost enough blood to die, the other male hit me in the back.
I released the girl, jerking around and grabbing the man by the shoulders, kneeing him in his core and causing him to hunch over. I never gave him the time to recover because I grabbed his head, and twisted it until I heard a crack. The man's body crumbled to the floor.
I looked at the last two and they stared at me with wide eyes. Before I went for them, they fled. I could feel that my wolf was glad with what she had done.
I started running again, but I knew being in my human form wouldn't help me get far. So I stopped, stripping down, and I got down on all fours. I felt my bones distort, cracking out of place, and I grunted from the pain. Finally, when I opened my eyes, I was a full wolf. I left my clothes and took off.
I ran even after it was dark, not really knowing where I was going, or where I was.
I slowed down as I smelled a horrible smell - rogues. I growled as a male black wolf came out of the bushes. He sneered back at me and we began to circle around each other. At this point, I was so tired from my last fight, so I bolted past him and down a slope. I could hear him running after me, and up ahead, I saw a road down at the bottom. I charged for it, but lost my balance and tumbled down the incline. Finally at the bottom, I crashed.
My entire being at that moment was so drained that I stayed in place.
I could go no further, so I gave up and just let myself pass out once again.
