"Brother?" I repeated in shock.
"Oh, don't act so surprised. It's not like you completely forgot about me." I stared at Jack blankly as his expression quickly changed. "Oh, you're serious. You don't know who I am?"
"No clue," I lifted an eyebrow, "I assumed that I was alone."
"Alone?" He let out a hearty laugh, "Kenya, you're far from alone. You just...choose to think that. You choose to forget, that's all."
"Or maybe you aren't my brother." I crossed one arm over the other, not amused by him. "You're just pretending so you can keep me here."
He sighed, "Give me your hand." I stared at him like he was a madman. "I'm not going to hurt you, just give me your hand." I rolled my eyes before placing my hand in his. He flipped it over and pointed to the mark I had beneath my thumb. "You see? I have the same one but it's reversed - as if our two marks were meant to be put together." He held out his identical hand and showed me the mark he had, putting it up next to mine and completing the picture. "This is something only you and I have. No one else in our pack has this mark but you and me. We're twins, Kenya. Do you remember now?"
As I looked at his hand, flashes of us as children crossed my mind. Jack and I were running through a forest, hand in hand with smiles on our faces. I shook my head and released myself from his hold.
"The mark means nothing," I replied coldly, "I would have remembered having a twin. My father would have mentioned you."
He frowned, "You must be confused. Did you hit your head or something?" He grabbed my face in his hands and turned it side to side, looking for any bruising. I glared at him. "You seem completely fine, so then you must be mistaken. Because Kenya, you and I are twins, we were separated a while ago. Maybe too much time has passed and I've slipped from your mind. But I can fix that, I can help you remember." Jack stood above me and reached down, placing both hands on either sides of my skull. I jerked and thrashed in his grasp, but he didn't let go. Then all of a sudden, I became calm. I relaxed my entire being and surrendered to the growing darkness.

"Jack!" I called as I searched camp for my brother. It was the early years, only the first civilizations existed, and the Lycans were beginning their climb to power. I was only a little girl at this time, dancing around our village without a care and unaware of what the future held. "Jack!" I popped my head into each tent looking for him, running in a zigzag manner, and occasionally colliding into older wolves.
I stopped when I came to the edge of camp. I hadn't found him. I was on the verge of giving up when someone with small hands like mine covered my eyes. I bounced up and down knowing it was him. "Jack-Jack!" He uncovered my eyes and I turned to face him. Jack was a bit taller than me at the time, and he had a familiar cheesy smile stretched across his face. "I found you!"
"I found you first!" He jeered, "Let's go play in there." He pointed in the direction of the thick forest. We both knew father wouldn't be pleased if he found us in there, so I shook my head in disagreement. "Come on, I'm going with you, and it'll be fun." He took me by the hand, easing my nerves as well as helping me to feel brave. We blasted off into the full throttle, both of us a giggling mess as the sun kissed our skin. We circled around trees, slid under fallen tree trunks, and got dirty by rolling down hills.
We didn't care about what was out there in the woods, or if sundown was going to catch us. Jack and I only focused on the wonders in the trees, the playful wind, and everything the woodland could offer us. But little did we remember that the same majestic lands were on the borders of rogue territories. Time fluttered away just as fast as the wings of a hummingbird, and it wasn't long before the sun began to take its leave.
