My eyes popped open as I jolted awake, immediately taking in my surroundings. I was bound to a chair by my wrists and ankles, as well as my chest and lap. I tugged at the bindings but was unsuccessful, even with the strength I possessed. I screamed for attention, and as if my wish was granted, a door opened before me.
I sat back in the chair and watched carefully as the figure in the doorway came into focus and revealed my friend, though she was no longer a friend but an enemy.
"I was wondering when you were going to come to," She greeted, keeping her distance.
I clenched my jaw, tightening my hands into fists. "You should just let me go, my father will be coming for me."
"Oh, I know," The witch retorted, the corner of her lip curling upward as she squatted down in front of me and looked up, her blue eyes meeting my brown ones, "I'm anticipating his arrival, we all are. But in the meantime, I'm going to try and reverse this spell Brendon help put on you."
I glared down at her. "You like him."
"Well of course I do. I've known him all my life. He's probably my best friend, besides you."
"No. You like him."
Rachael's eyebrows furrowed together, her eyes turning black. Without saying a word, she rose to her feet and glanced down at me, her soulless eyes staring into mine. She shot her hand out and grabbed my chin, tilting my head up so that I was looking up at her. "This isn't about me. This is about you," She remarked, her voice layered with several different octaves, making it near impossible to understand her.
"You can't turn me back, don't you get it!" I snapped at her, her ink black nails digging into my cheeks, "This is who I am! This is who I'm meant to be and there's nothing you..." I pulled at the restraints. "...can..." I gave my all. "...DO ABOUT IT!" I yelled as I broke the bars from around my wrists and ankles and jumped at Rachael, tackling her to the ground. Her head hit the floor as I positioned myself on top of her, raising my right hand high in the air and striking down, slashing her chest with my claws.
Three long, thin lines appeared on her pale skin and black blood began to trickle down towards her shoulders. She peered down at her chest and then back up at me, shouting out of fury and pushing me off of her. I flew up into the ceiling and fell to the floor a few feet away from her, groaning in pain.
Rachael rose to her feet and cracked her fingers. "Okay, Kenya, two can play at this game." She tilted her head down and closed her eyes, beginning to mutter phrases, incomprehensible to anyone not a witch, under her breath.
I picked myself up and growled lowly, charging for her. But before I could lay a hand on her, she snapped her head up, opened her black eyes, and extended her hands outward, engulfing me in an invisible force and continuing her chant even louder.
A sharp pain tore through my body, as if every fiber of my being was being pulled apart.
Memories started flooding back to me, all the things I wanted to forget. The memories she was returning to me were dark, about all the people I killed, all the families I devastated, all the ones I pushed away because I was afraid of becoming attached.
Rachael's lips curled up into a smirk, finding satisfaction in my misery and pain. Before we were two dangerous dark forces, hiding behind these masks we'd created for ourselves, but our masks had been long discarded, and our true selves had been revealed. The only reason we hadn't killed each other yet was because we both had our evils, strong evils, that acted as our driving forces. However, now, she was extracting my evil, taking it for her own to make hers stronger.
The memories continued to get darker and darker, worse and worse. I shrieked in agony, my knees buckling and forcing me to the floor. I grabbed my head in my hands and curled into a ball, the pain absolutely excruciating.
