"Brutus," Pete growled underneath his breath, his fists tightening by his sides and his jaw clenching.
The man's eyes found their way over to the group of vampires and a smirk crawled onto his face. "Well isn't this a surprise? The four men I thought I'd never see again, celebrating my daughter's return to this pity little bayou."
"Leave them alone," Kenya snarled, stepping forward from Bruno. Her mate immediately grabbed her by the arm, pulling her back. She immediately yanked it away, glaring at Bruno, her eyes screaming that she had this under control and he had no need to be protective. He hung his head in defeat, though he knew he'd intervene if things were to escalate.
"And why should I do that?" Her father tested her, "More importantly, what makes you think that you can tell me what to do? Don't you realize that I'm your superior and you're my inferior?"
Animosity bubbled up inside of Kenya, her lips pressed together to refrain from saying something she'd regret.
"But I understand why you might think that," He continued, beginning to approach the group, his hands clasped behind his back and his head held high, "Deep down, you know that each and every person at this gathering is beneath you. Those vampires?" He motioned to Patrick, Pete, Joe, and Andy and scoffed. "They're no match for you. And that witch!" He threw his hand in Rachael's direction. Patrick moved her so that she was standing behind him. "You think you're bad, sweetheart? You don't know what bad is. Maybe you would if my daughter wasn't so foolish and didn't downgrade herself so often." His head snapped in Kenya's direction. "You see, Kenya? You don't belong here. You're better than everyone. You belong in your rightful place, with me."
"I'll never go with you," She proclaimed, her eyebrows furrowed together, "And there's nothing you can say or do to change my mind."
A devilish grin stretched across Brutus's face. "Oh is that so?" Kenya nodded her head. "Nothing?"
"Nothing," She repeated confidently.
"So...not even for the life of your brother?"
Kenya's eyebrow raised in suspicion, and within the blink of an eye, Brutus had his hand wrapped around Jack's neck, his squeeze growing tighter with each second that passed.
The gamma wolf swallowed the lump that had formed in her throat, croaking out a meek, "You wouldn't."
The corner of Brutus's lip curled upward before he brought his hands up to his son's head and twisted it, snapping the boy's neck in one swift motion. Horrified screams and gasps filtered through the party as the rogue crippled to the ground lifelessly. Kenya's jaw dropped in shock.
"Who's next?" The father questioned angrily, scanning the room for people he knew meant a lot to his daughter, "The witch?"
"Stop it!" She cried.
It was too late, his eyes had locked on Rachael.
"NO!" Kenya boomed, noticing this, "LEAVE! NOW!"
"Not until you come with me," He professed, crossing his arms over his chest and cocking his head to the side, "And I'll kill whoever it takes for you to finally agree."
Kenya bit her lip and looked back at her friends and the rogues, the same worried expression on all of their faces. She knew she had no other choice than to comply with him, or else everyone she cared about would die.
"What - or should I say who - will it be?" Brutus asked, pleased with himself.
"You should go," Rachael murmured to her friend. Kenya's eyes met hers. "It's not as bad as you think it is. Trust me. Plus, you know we'll come for you."
