Chapter 1 Departure to Fat Camp

"Maw' Maw where is my paper with the number of the bus?" Layla hollered downstairs. "You not gon be hollering at me", Maw' Maw yelled, "Go and ask your sister where it's at you got only a few more minutes to be ready". Layla runs downstairs to ask Anaya where her paper could be. Anaya said uncaring "I don't know last time I check grandma had it wit all that other papers you had to fill out". Layla says annoyed, "Grandma, Anaya says you had dem papers last, so can you just please try to remember where you put the one with the number of the bus". Maw' Maw said aggravated, "Just look in the car cause that's the last place I can remember for right now". But before Layla even ran outside to check if it was in the car Na'Shawn had it in his hand saying, "it was on the counter the whole time ya'll so dumb." Layla snatched the paper and got in the car. Na'Shawn said madly, " the least she could do is say thank you, that's why she left her other suitcase upstairs, I hope she know that...". But as soon as he said that Layla ran back upstairs to get the extra suitcase she was about to leave. Maw' Maw said, "Alrite is everyone ready to go, because I'm not waiting any longer this girl need to get where she going". They all agreed and got in the car heading on their way to the buses.

But before they got there Anaya and Na'Shawn got a little hungry, so Maw' Maw stopped at a corner store so they could get a snack. But this is making time even shorter for Layla to catch her bus. Finally they get there and no one is there but the buses. Na'Shawn says giggling, "Dang sis the done left you and you didn't even know it". Layla says angrily, "Shut up and talk what you need to know because I didn't get left I think I'm the first one here, I must've gotten the time wrong". Anaya says annoyed, "So you mean to tell me that we rushed all the way over here just to sit and watch buses, I thought it was gon be some cute ones to see". Maw' Maw says sternly, "Ain't gon be no cute ones for you, so cut that out rite now". But as soon as Maw' Maw said that it seemed as if the cute ones came flooding in. Layla said thinking out loud, "I see some familiar faces round, but I really don't want the school vibe again". Anaya said excited, "Ooh look at Collin and Travis they look so gud chile I wish I graduated with ya'll". Layla said confused, "Why would them of people from my old school be going to fat camp, I mean this feels like a huge fucking joke?" Maw' Maw reached back to hit Layla and told her angrily," Watch your mouth round me now I ain't your friends". Layla said her apologies to her grandmother. Layla begins to think to herself, "Why would Travis be here especially the dumbass of the school Collin the crack head, it's just not making any sense to me at all".

Finally Layla gets out the car and says her farewells to her family and heads towards her bus. Surprisingly she is on the same bus as Travis, and Collin the people that she was secretly trying to avoid. "What's up thick Madame?" Collin said jokingly. "Not a damn thing crack head Collin", Layla said heading towards her seat. Collin sat in the seat across from her and said, "You know you love me gurl don't act, you know you want this d... But before he finished Travis came and told him to scoot over so he could sit down. Travis said smiling at Layla, "What's up Layla it been a long time since I've seen you ...

Layla finished it before Travis saying, "Yeah I know it's been a month whoop dee doo, look can the both of you just ... Before Layla could finish she was cut off by Travis, "Whoa I'm sorry if I said something wrong but damn you could at least chill with the attitude a little". " Yeah lay stop sweating us you act like niggas followed what you was trying to do for the summer, shit all we trying to do is make a buck just like you", Collin said. Layla said angrily, "shut up crack head... Suddenly Layla is interrupted by some white counselor saying, "Whoa young lady we don't use that type of language at E.F.H now let's have a little more fun". Layla felt a little uncomfortable because of they way the woman was straining to smile, and she couldn't even give her good eye contact. Eventually the lady walked way after an awkward silence and blank stares. Collin says, "So yeah... anyways niggas out here hustling on the real". And as Collin kept on ranting about how he was hustling Layla looked out the window and saw that the awkward white lady was still looking at the bus, so she decided to pull out her phone to play her music to keep herself from being scared.

As the bus pulls off it feels as if there is a new beginning ahead for Layla, yet she doesn't know yet, though she'll find out. "Please don't stand in the aisle while I'm driving", said the bus driver. Collin said loudly, "Suck my dick fuck boy". Everyone on the bus began to laugh. And the bus driver responded, "Yeah yo momma sucked my dick". And everyone laughed knowing who he responded to. Surprisingly Collin had no response, and Layla knew that it would be a long trip to E.F.H and made sure that her music was up and loud.
