Chapter 7 The New Member

A week later Stacy told the group that they would be having a new member coming to their group. Supposedly the person is a girl and she would be coming once they got started on their morning trail walk. As they were doing their trail walk Stacy said eagerly, "You guys I'm just so proud of you all, and ya'll have been making so much progress". Jared started laughing and said, "Why you lying Ms.Stacy, you know that not everyone has been losing as much as you say", then Jared patted his stomach. Everyone laughed, but Jared was joking because they all were really making progress from all the work outs that Stacy had them do. They finished up their trail and headed towards the cafeteria to go and have lunch. Sally went and sat at a table by herself, and the groupies who usually were around didn't understand what was wrong with her. Asia and Layla sat at their table eating the wheat rolls, when they saw Hunter walking with some chubby girl who had a Afro pineapple puff, and they both sat three tables down from there table. Asia said jokingly, "Wow, looks like he's found someone new Layla". Layla laughed and kept eating her roll. She had filled Asia in on what had happened on the camp out day with her and Travis, and how Hunter got and attitude with her about them two being together. Layla said to Asia annoyed, "Yeah, I thought it was kind of weird that he was worried about the shit that was going on with me, I mean I never gave him a hint that I liked him or anything so..." Asia just shrugged, and said, "Well at least he's moved on, and has a new crush". Layla smiled at Asia and said, "Speaking of crushing on someone, you never told me about what happened between you and Collin". Asia started to smile and hid her face over with her hands. Asia said feeling flustered and jumpy, "Lets just talk about something other than Collin". Layla just kept laughing as she saw Asia getting nervous of even saying Collin's name.

Back at the table with Hunter was the new member of their group. Her name was Vanessa and she had fair skin with hazel eyes. Once Hunter saw her, he knew she would be the right girl to help him get the attention of Layla. Hunter approached her with such a sly demeanor it catch the attention from Vanessa quicker than he thought. After that he knew that it wasn't going to be an issue with getting Vanessa to do anything he asked. As Vanessa was talking to Hunter about how she was excited about going to this camp and meeting new people, out of nowhere he leaned towards Vanessa. He looked her straight in her eyes and said brashly, "You know Vanessa you have one of the most beautiful eyes I have ever seen". Vanessa started to smile and in her mind she was falling for Hunter. But she didn't know what plans he had in store for her yet. Hunter was jumping for joy in the inside because everything was going as he planned; at least that's what he thought. He sat back in his seat and looked in the direction of Layla, but he realized she wasn't even paying them no mind. Hunter knew deep down inside that she wouldn't be paying him any attention, but he wanted Layla and he was going to do anything to get her, even if that meant breaking Vanessa's heart. Travis, Collin, and Jonah all came in heading towards where Layla and Asia were. Collin wrapped one of his arms around Asia, and he hugged his head against hers. Asia was blushing and everyone knew that Collin did that to her on purpose just to see her blush. Travis just sat beside Layla and put his arms around her chair. Collin asked Jonah jokingly, "So, it seems everyone had a happy ending, I mean did you and Sally do something"? Jonah looked as if he wanted to say something, but it seemed as if a thought came across his mind, but he stopped in his tracks.

Collin looked at him confused and just shrugged his shoulders. After their food came they all ate. Back at the table where Sally was sitting she was in her thoughts. Sally thought to herself a little confused," I mean my main goal was to have Travis all to myself, but why do I feel so confused". Sally thought that the kiss her and Jonah had didn't really mean a thing. Sally just shook her head denying that she felt any type of feelings for Jonah as she took a sip from her water bottle. For all she knew Jonah was a huge asshole and he was rude. As Sally was in her thoughts one of the groupies came and sat beside her. They asked Sally with a concerning voice, "So did you ever try to talk to Travis". Sally was so deep into her thoughts she couldn't understand a word the groupie asked her. Finally the groupie got aggravated and left from the table. She was so caught up on thinking about Jonah she realized that she did like him, even if she didn't want to like him. At the table with Hunter and Vanessa, Carlos and Jared were sitting with them, they all introduced themselves. Vanessa said excitedly, "It's nice to meet the rest of the group". Jared said jokingly, "Yeah if we ever get the fucking time to get to show you to everyone, with all the workouts we do". Carlos said in agreement, "Yep we do workouts every morning, noon, and night". Vanessa looked at them kind of shocked. Hunter just smiled and said deviously, "Well I don't see why you would need to lose weight because you're perfect the way you are". Vanessa had a huge smile on her face, while Jared and Carlos looked at Hunter like he was corny. Jared said jokingly, "Well on that note it's time for us to leave".

Carlos agreed and they both left to go get ready for their next workouts. As Asia and Layla made their way back to the cabin they saw the same girl who was with Hunter in their cabin. It seemed as if she was looking for something, but they disregarded it since she was new. Layla asked nicely, "Hey are you the new girl"? Vanessa put on a fake smile and said, "Yes, nice to meet you Layla". Asia asked confused, "Wait, how do you know her name". Vanessa looked at Asia and said, "Um, Hunter told me about everyone, your name is Asia, right"? Asia shook her head yes, and looked at Layla with a concerned look. Layla looked back at Asia, and then she glanced at Vanessa. She could tell Vanessa was being a little fake, so she didn't want to waste anymore of her time. Layla said uncaring, "Well uh, oh yeah I didn't catch your name". Vanessa said blandly, "I'm Vanessa". Layla said not really meaning it, "Well it was really cool to meet you". After that she and Asia headed towards the restrooms. Vanessa then pulled out Layla's phone which she had hiding in her back pocket. Vanessa thought to herself, "That bitch is crazy". Or at least that's what Hunter made her think. Before Vanessa went rambling in Layla's things she had been told lies from Hunter. Hunter said with distress, "Vanessa I know that this is asking a lot, but could you do me a favor". Vanessa smiled not knowing what the favor was requiring her to do. Hunter said annoyed, "See one of the group members use to talk to me, but I lost interest in her, because of her weird attitudes, but she hasn't been over me since we've broken up. Now I've found out that my phone is missing". Vanessa looked at him as he stood looking pitiful. Vanessa said agreeing, "I'll get your phone back just tell me how your phone looks".

Hunter describes the exact description of Layla's phone. Vanessa thought to herself, "Man Layla is really desperate". As she was holding Layla's phone, Sally came in and saw her, but knowing Sally she never really paid much attention to Layla's things, so she really didn't give it too much thought. Sally didn't say much to Vanessa, she just lay on her bunk waiting for Stacy to come in and tell them when the workouts they were about to begin. Vanessa knew that she would only have one friend, and one friend only, and that was Hunter.
