For the past two days, I have been getting to know my father.
I learned that he was raised on Earth and brought to The Clouds, just as I had been, and that he had met my mother when he had finished his training and returned to Earth. He did not tell my mother about The Clouds for her protection. He was called back for the war and was forced to leave my mother whom he never returned to due to the kidnapping.
I learned that the Dreadwings had created a technology that would disable a fairy's power and that is why I couldn't just use my powers and walk out. He also explained why I was there; the Dreadwings wanted to destroy all fairies, and to do that, they felt that they must destroy the strongest fairies first, that being the two of us. The had decided to torture my father instead, most likely because they thought it was fun.
"You need to be careful what you say to them," my father warns, "They will use your words against you. Anything you say about your powers could be used to remove our powers. Permanently."
I nod and stand up. I begin to walk back and forth. I am on the verge of panicking. My father stands up an puts his hands on my shoulders. He says, "Please remain calm, Cora."
"That is the worst possible thing to say to a girl in this situation!" I shout because all guys should know this.
"You sound like your mother," he says and smiles.
"Not the time to talk about my mother either!" I regret yelling but at the same time I don't because he really needs to shut the fuck up and figure out how the hell we are going to escape.
"I am sorry." He says in a quiet voice, well, as quiet as it could be in a room the echoes.
"I'm sorry for yelling." I say back. I am about to hug him but the door to our dungeon swings in and in walks a Dreadwing, eyes a pretty shade of blue.
"Cora, come with me." It says.
"No." I sat back and cross my arms over my chest. Aren't I sassy today.
"Cora, it's me." It whispers and waves a Han informer of its face to reveal none other than Ian. Usually I am good a recognizing voices but I guess I haven't heard him talk enough to know his.
"Oh thank God!" I shout and nearly tackle him to the ground.
"Moore? Ian Moore? Why, I haven't seen you since you were a boy." My father pipes up from behind me.
"Hi." He says with a hand shake. He continues with, "We must leave now."
He takes my hand and leads me out of the room, into a large bright hallway with green walls and white tile floors.
"Where are we going?" I asked and he remained quiet, like usual. I ask again, "Where are we going?"
"You must remain quite!" He whisper-shouts as I hear heavy footsteps behind me.
I turn around and see a Dreadwing guard staring at us. Ian turns around and when the guard sees that he is not a Dreadwing, he lunges at us.
I scream and duck down, but when I hear a thud and nothing hits me, I look up to see a headless Dreadwing and Jake holding the head.
"Jake!" I yell and run to hug him. When we hug, I squeeze as tight as I can and then look up at my boyfriend to see his smiling face. I can't help but kiss him, not stoping until I absolutely positively need to breath.
As soon as we finish we look into each other's eyes. We just stay like that for a minute, enjoying to moment even if we did only see each other a few days ago.
"Hello, Jake." Says someone, Nick I see it is, coming in from the other hallway.
"Hey Nick," Jake says letting go of me and taking only one step before a bullet enters the back of his head.
