Hey, so shorter chapter... sorry :)

Katie's POV
I woke up to the sound of the doorknob turning slowly. My eyes fluttered open and I looked towards the door. I sat up slowly. To my surprise and relief, no wave of dizziness came over me. The room wasn't spinning. I took this as a good sign that I was getting better. I propped my pillow up behind my back as I sat, awaiting my visitor.
The door opened slowly and creaked as it did. It was halfway there, and then I saw a pair of big brown eyes peeking in at me, seeing if it was safe to come in. Apparently it was because the eyes quickly disappeared and the door swung open rapidly, revealing Maya.
"Hey." She said
"Hey." I replied.
She wasted no time getting to the point. "I don't have much time, I'm supposed to be helping with the breakfast at camp, so this has to be quick." She said.
"Okay." I replied, "What do you want to know."
"Well," she started, "All I want to know right now is why you left that town."
"That's it?" I responded.
"That's it." She confirmed.
"You don't want to know how I got there?" I questioned.
"None of that matters, anymore," she stated, "you're here now. I just want to know how you got here."
I sighed. "I haven't told many people about this, and I don't plan on it spreading..." I warned.
"I understand." Maya said, nodding. "Just say what's on your mind, and then I'll be out of your hair."
"Okay." I responded. "Long story short, the leader of that group was sick. I mean crazy, sick, not ill. And he...he did things to me. That I'd really rather not repeat, especially considering I just told Daryl this whole thing. But I'm a woman. He's a man. He's crazy. He's desperate. You can connect the dots."
Maya nodded, urging me to continue.
"After he did those...things, he threatened to kill me if he ever saw me again. And then he told me to run if I wanted to live. So I literally ran for my life, and then I ran right into you guys. And, here we are." I told her.
I was being sort of vague, but she didn't need to know the details. And I wasn't keen on sharing my life story with someone I barely knew. I was trying to keep as much information as possible from her, but at the same time, I wanted her trust and friendship.
"I'm so sorry." She said, shaking her head.
I smiled at her, "Yeah, well, it wouldn't be the first time that someone's said that to me. But thank you."
She nodded and smiled at me. She started to get up to leave.
"Wait." I said to her. She stopped and turned to face me. "You said you had to tell me something."
She sighed and smiled weakly at me.
"I'll tell you, Katie, but you can't tell anyone. This has to stay a secret. I'm telling you this, because I believe that you can do something about it." Maya started.
I nodded at her, encouraging her to go on.
She scratched her neck nervously. "There's...there's walkers in the barn. Katie, your family is keeping walkers in their barn."
