I woke up and Iza was laying on the floor beside the couch, sweatpants, tank top, and socks, with one of my books in hand. Leg crossed over her knee.

I looked at the table and saw a fresh change of clothes for me and a plate with pancakes and fruit covered with a plastic wrap.

I tickled her foot and she jumped.
"Nigga. " She said dropping the book on her chest.

She sat up and smoothed her hands over my face.

"What time is it?"
"It's the next day."She said playing with my hair.
"Damn it." I said feeling the pain kick in.
"Your breath stinks." She said scrunching up her face and smiling.
I looked away and kissed my teeth.

"Boy." She said taking her hand back eyeing me seriously.
"What?"

She rolled her eyes at me.

"I'm still sleepy."
"Marlon said you would."
"When was he was here?"
"Last night."

I sat up trying to compose myself.

"Don't do anything too fast." She said looking back at me as she got up again.
"He leave any painkillers?"
"Yeah. Right after you eat he said." She said with her back to me.

"Did you stay here the whole time?"

She shook her head.

"I went home to change and get you some clothes then I came back. Marcus insisted on getting me out of here for a couple hours..."
"Call him up." I said putting my head in my hands.

She sat beside me looking at me.

"You sure you don't want to rest a lil' more? He's handling everything outside."

I shook my head.

"Be reasonable August, you wouldn't want your men to see you like this."

I looked at her.

"It's just a couple more hours, I'll wake you up."

I laid back closing my eyes.
My head is pounding and I can't manage to find words to answer her.

"Give me that gun, you'll end up hurting yourself."

I could hear her from afar like she wasn't sitting beside me.

I handed it to her just wanting silence.

I felt her lips on my forehead and fell back asleep.

----

I woke up to her laughing and felt at ease somehow.

I looked up to see her and Marcus looking at something on his phone.

"That's low of you Marcus."
"Nah man. I just didn't see that coming from little Miss Iza."
"I'm not that little stop it." She said sitting on my table.
"Better get off my damn table." I said sitting up slowly.
"Look who's up!" She smiled dangling her feet.
"Get off my table Luiza."
"Come get me big boy." She said looking at me with a mischievous smile.

I chuckled.

"Those pancakes..."
"Yeah they here. I drank your smoothie doe'."
"Get your own." I mumbled getting up.
"I did." She smiled. "But hey don't be talking shit. You know what time is it?"
"Almost one in the morning." Marcus answered.
"Damn."
"Exactly."
"Is everything clean? " I said looking at him.
"Yeah. "
"You sure."
"Yes I am."
"So I won't have to worry about it."

He leaned on the desk and crossed his arms.

"Words."
"No mr. Anthony you won't."
"Alright then."
