I slump my back against his desk as I watched him leave his office, with no details whatsoever.
His office was pin drop silent. When I finally calmed my emotions down, I finally left his office, reluctantly walking into mine.
"There you are! Where have you been Mrs Anderson, I've been looking everywhere for you!" A girl marched up to me, pulling me away from my intended direction.
"I am this companies Publicist. At the moment the interviews and photoshoot for Mr Anderson and you are piling up taller than the Eiffel Tower. I can't keep the press away for long." She huffed as she dragged me into a more secluded corner.
"So where is the CEO?" She asked me as she flipped through her phone.
"Erm..., I don't know." I shyly replied.
"What?!" She literally dropped her phone on the floor. Her mouth widely ajar.
"I don't know. He said it was confidential and he left fifteen minutes ago." I bend down wanting to help her pick up her phone before she stopped me.
"Breathe Gwen breathe." She chanted to herself.
Well at least I know her name now.
"Okay. I'll contact him ASAP. And currently since he is absent, you'd only be able to have the interview with Women's Magazine, Women Weekly..." She mentioned another 3 names of magazines but I must've blanked out after listening to the first two.
She snapped her fingers twice in front of me to rescue me from my trance.
"Focus! Now before you can do all that interviews, you'll need to make a few things crystal clear."
"First of all, never answer any question regarding to anything detailed about the company. And if you don't know what to answer, you have to the right to remain silent and keep your ground neutral." She stopped a while to see my response before she continued.
"Next, nothing about your private life. Nothing that can endanger your safety. Questions about your past might be asked, so do answer those type of questions."
I nodded.
"And, your figure, your very being will be observed closely by the press from here on out. So little things like donating money to the beggar on the street is welcomed, but never, and I mean never do anything that might ruin your rep." She waved her phone in front of my face "example, your would never see Michelle Obama picking up a phone that I dropped because of my clumsiness. Understand?"
I looked at her confusingly before nodding again.
"You know what. Forget about it. I'll be there to help you. Just remember to look my way if you feel offended in answering any questions later okay?"
Before I could nod she dragged me out and led me out of the building and into a limo.
"Step on it." She ordered the driver and we took off.
***
At our arrival, I was escorted carefully into the building. I was then placed in a dressing room as my PA picked out the most suitable outfit for me and did my hair and makeup.
"Am I having a photoshoot?" I asked because I really did not see why I had to be this glammed up.
"No. Today will only be interviews for you." Gwen bluntly replied.
The next 2 hours of my life was the most traumatic moment I've ever experienced.
"What are your plans after being the leading woman in Anderson Corps?" One of the press asked as we gathered around a oval shaped glass table.
I took a deep breath before answering. This wasn't easy, one wrong answer, and whatever I said will be the headline for every newspaper.
"I'm going to push forward for sensitive issues like feminism. I'm going to be as involved as possible in this issue, and I'll do whatever in my power to regain women rights." I took a look at my publicist after answering.
She gently nodded. Showing that I was doing fine.
"What are your opinions in having such a powerful position in the business world?"
"I'm very lucky. The business world is definitely a competitive place to be in. But the Anderson household definitely carried themselves through the business world flawlessly. Those people will definitely be the people I'll be learning from."
"What are your opinions to people saying that doctors like yourself will never be able to fit in the business world and that you'll only ruin Anderson Corps?" One of the press asked sternly, staring at me.
My PA shot up. But before she could speak I stopped her.
I wanted to answer this question. I needed to answer this question. I needed to make things clear.
"Well, this if only for time to tell. With what I know, this corporation will never fall as long as the Anderson household is in control." I replied sternly.
She gave me a long stare before jotting down notes on her little book.
***
It took them approximately 2 hours to wrap things up. In my opinion it was pretty fun, but my PA on the other hand was stressed as heck.
As soon as I was dropped back to my office, I dialed Marcus's cell, hoping to get some info on his whereabouts.
"Hey. Where are you? Things okay?" I asked as soon as he picked the phone.
"Busy. I'm fine. I'll be back in a weeks time." He ended the call without a word of goodbye.
My eyebrows furrowed. I wasn't pleased with the answer I was given.
I marched down the lobby and talked to Marcus's secretary. If anyone knew his where he was, it would be her. Someone just had to hold the fort.
"Where's Marcus?" It sounded more like a demand than a question.
"I don't know." She didn't even take a look at me.
I rolled my eyes at her. "I swear to God if you don't tell me right this instant you'll be jobless in the next minute. I have every right to know."
She took a long look at me. "He's in Canada." She finally muttered.
"Send me his coordinates. I'm going there right now." I marched away.
"Mrs Anderson!" She called after me before I left.
"What?"
"Sometimes people don't tell you things to protect you. The things you don't know won't hurt you." She advice.
I halted my footsteps and thought it through.
"You can't change my mind. I'm going after him, that's that. Book me the earliest flight there."
