Marcus
I woke up feeling like crap, probably because those other two who was sleeping in the next room just would not quit.
It sounded like sleeping next door to the butcher.
Riley on the other hand, slept soundly. Probably all the alcohol she took made her woozy the whole night.
I gave Riley a quick peck on the cheek, before getting ready.
I put on a button up blue shirt, and a pair of designer slacks.
My mind still pondering about the thought of my father asking me to read some important confidential letter.
I went into the study room finding the usual stack of letters. One of them with the words confidential written in bold red.
I slid it open to find it was a letter of transfer. Asking me to be the CEO of the UK branch of Anderson Corps.
"The company has been proud to be called by the Canadian government to help with the telecommunication in their sector..."
Basically big words aside. My dad is forcing me to help with the family business as he takes of to Canada and enlarge his multinational business.
I ran my fingers through my hair frustratingly.
What did he expect me to do. Uproot my life in New York and just move to UK?
But knowing my dad, this isn't a request. It's a command.
Riley's gonna freak when she finds out.
"OMG! Eeeewwwwww!!" I heard Riley scream from the living room.
I ran towards the living room to find her covering her eyes, facing the wall behind her. She was still in her bathrobe, her hair messed up, her eye bags the size of Russia.
"Guys, for all that is good and right. Put on some clothes." I looked at Vivian and Ryan from the corner of my eye.
Both of them were only in their underwear. God knows why their standing in the centre of the living room parading.
I walked over to Riley, wrapping my arms around her.
She smelled of vanilla. Still covering her eyes with her hands.
"Go back into the room and get yourself ready." I whispered onto her head.
She took a peek under her hand, and made a run for our bedroom.
"You two, get dressed up." I threw a coat hanging on the coat rack to Vivian. Letting her cover up. Her face was redder than a tomato. I didn't think that was quite possible.
After she left, there was only Ryan left. Standing tall and proud in his boxer.
He walked towards me and stuck his hand out to me.
"Sorry mate, basically we got lost and had no idea which transporter took us here."
Not that he had an body figure to be ashamed of, but still, this was an eye soar.
"Yeah. Your in my house. Because I send you and your gf here." I made things clear before I left.
"Oh and one more thing... Ryan, being naked isn't a thing in New York. Maybe it is in Australia, but not in New York."
I went back to the study room.
I unconsciously let out a sigh.
Stupid letter that was going to ruin everything I worked for.
The hospital, being a doctor... Everything was going to turn into ashes.
I shut my eyes tight. Resting my head against the leather chair.
My father just had to ruin everything.
But it wasn't his fault...
Was it mine?
My mind kept on going back and forth like this. Mental torture is when there was the absence of an choice.
"Hey babe." Riley hugged me from behind catching me by surprise.
I looked at her nicely, cleaned, washed, face. Her long hair hazel brown dangling down on to my shoulders.
I let out a smile, as she tilted my head and kissed me.
In between smooches, her eyes drifted towards the letter with the big bold 'confidential' written on it.
She immediately let go of me, and reached for the letter.
Her face formed a slight frown when she read through it.
"What's this?" She asked.
"It's exactly what you read" I answered her, trying to read her expression.
She took a deep breath before asking "when are we leaving."
Suddenly I felt Riley grow before my eyes. Usually she would whine and complain the entire day. But somehow, today she didn't. She accepted the fact that somethings couldn't be changed.
"One week for us to resign from our jobs, relocate there, and get settled in." I explained.
Riley chucked the letter aside, looking straight at me. "Promise me nothing will change." Her voice firm, yet shattering inside of her.
She must have been filled with uncertainties and worries. Yet, she trusted me enough to just leave and come with me.
I went near her. Our nose touching, the cold air separating me from her lips. I could hear her breathing, feel her heartbeat against mine. I pressed against her lips, "I promise."
She smiled out of relieve.
"Well, I guess I outta check up on those two. They are probably getting handsy in front of the maid." She turned her heels.
"Hey. Riley." I called her before she left.
She turned her head towards me.
"Did you call me babe?" I cocked an eyebrow at her, crossing my arms, grinning from ear to ear.
Her cheeks immediately flustered from pink all the way to cherry red.
"I-i-i... Gotta go." She paced out of my study room.
As she left I heard her shout back.
"God, I hate you Marcus." Saying it in her irritated tone.
I packed up the letters before following her. "I know princess."
