Marcus
I ran my fingers through my hair, feeling stressed and annoyed. How was I to do my job properly when the DB keeps on asking me to babysit girls. I am a doctor not a babysitter for crying out loud.
I tapped the desk against my fingers, trying to figure out a solution to not babysitting some spoiled-annoying-daddy's daughter-who-doesn't-even-seem-sick 7 year old girl.
"DB, with all due respect, I'm not going to waste my time on a girl like that." I said bluntly.
"Marcus, you're an incredible asset to the hospital. If not you, who?" DB raised his eyebrows at me.
I rested my chin against my fist. Just thinking about treating a not sick person is damn frustrating. "Fine. A week, no more than that." I agreed with hesitation. Then the DB was finally willing to step out of my office.
Beep. My handphone messenger rang.
"Hey, you ready to head home? It's already 7pm" - Riley
7pm and I still have tons of work to do. I felt guilty but I had to blow Riley off. A part of me really wanted to go home with her. But work always came first.
"Sorry, still have work to do. You can take my keys and drive home first." - Marcus
"Genius, I don't know how to drive." - Riley
I basically laughed myself off the chair after reading that text. Well, no surprise there, she did always take the cab. Yes, Riley was a handful but that was the exact reason I loved her. She brought excitement in my life. No exam, interview or job on earth could do that to me... But she did that to me. She made life more interesting.
I stopped the texting game and immediately called her.
"Hello?"
"It's me. You have two choices, go home now by cab or wait for me till about 9pm." I said while holding myself from laughter.
"I'll wait for you I guess. I know you're probably grinning from ear to ear right now. Stop it." Riley sounded annoyed. Annoyed Riley is the best version of Riley.
"Okay, meet up with you later."
"I hate you."
"I love you too." I said while ending the call.
I locked myself in the office and began my paperwork and reports. Riley definitely made life interesting. She was not like the rest. She was unique, special, original... Damn, gotta get her out of my head. Paperwork time.
I finished early and saw Riley waiting for me at the entrance. Her hair was let down, brown long and slightly wavy. I loved to play with her hair. And yank it when she was speaking nonsense. Damn, again with Riley.
"Hey, Riley you're driving us home. You have a driving license, use it. If you can drive, this car will be yours. I'll use the Audi I have at home." I said while gently pushing Riley towards the driver's seat..
When I said the car would be hers, she had this sparkle in her eyes.
"B-but I don't know how to drive..."
"No buts. Get in. It's not that you don't know, you just forgotten." I said while grinning at her.
"First." I adjusted all the mirrors to her height. "Check your rear mirror and side mirror when changing lanes and reversing." "Second" I help her strap on her seat belt. "Seat belt, in case you crash my car and kill yourself. The rest is pretty much main stream. Understand?"
