Marcus
"Bro what time are you reaching the reunion thing-ay?"-Harry
"8 something."-Marcus
"I'm bringing my gf. You?"-Harry
I saw the text, but I didn't reply. I threw the phone aside, running my hand through my hair. Something felt awkward about meeting people who you haven't seen for years. I wonder how they changed.
Riley popped through the door, "Hey Marcus, the reunion thing is today right?".
I was surprised she remembered. "Yeah."
That is when my phone flashed, showing that I received a text.
"See you at my hotel at 7."-Camila
Her caller ID was still in my phone, I guess her handphone number hasn't changed from high school till now.
"Is Camila going?" Riley broke my train of thought.
I showed her the text. "Apparently so."
Instantly her eye brows curved upwards, purposely squinting at the text. "Then I'm going too." She stomped off. Seeing her stomping off made me laugh, she isn't like any girl with class and poise... She was Riley. My Riley.
Time sure moves slowly when I'm not in the hospital working. But it was finally 7pm, I put on a blue blouse and combed my hair slightly. Getting ready for me took lesser than 10min, but for Riley it was like she had to get ready for the Oscars.
"Riley!! Are you done yet? We need to go!" I yelled from the bedroom, while twirling the car keys around my finger. She locked herself in the wardrobe for at least an hour now, and she still isn't done.
"Give me a sec." She replied. The same thing she replied half an hour ago.
"Riley, I'm gonna start the car now, and if you don't get there in time, too bad." I walked out of the room, and slammed the door hard to make sure she heard me leaving.
I went to the basement, getting the car, I turned on the engine, and was ready to leave. My car inched a little out on to the driveway, then Riley finally came.
She wore this knee length pure white ruffled dress that expressed every curve on her body just perfectly. She hardly had any make up on, yet to me she looked stunning already.
I bent over to the passenger seat to push open the door for her. She came in and threw her diamond studded purse at me. "If you left, I swear you're gonna sleep in the living room tonight." She started bickering.
I placed her purse on her lap, and drove off. "Did my mother buy that for you?"
"Oh please, my whole wardrobe is filled with stuff your mom bought for me." She said while putting on her high heels.
Somehow, to me Riley looks great in anything she wore. It could be a thousand dollar sparkly golden dress that my mom bought for her or a oversized tee with a huge cat picture in front of it, I think she still looks beautiful. I rather see Riley wearing an oversized tee than seeing a supermodel wearing victoria secret lingerie...
I always had high standards with the girls I hung out with, but with Riley... It's different.
I swung by Camila's hotel and left for the party. Once she stepped into the car, Riley became very silent. She didn't even greet her. She just kept her eyes focused in front. I drummed my fingers against the steering wheel, this was awkward.
