Kaylin Dark

"Dinner!" Mrs. O'Brien shouted, clinking two pots together. I sighed and shook my head as the kids ran down the hall screaming and yelling.

"Kaylin! Get your ass over here!" Jonny yelled. I just shut my door and plopped down on my bed, staring at the popcorn ceiling.

"So ugly," I whispered at the ceiling. I hissed at it and turned on my side to stare at the picture I drew in kindergarten. It was of me and my imaginary parents. The foster home was hell so the teacher just told me to draw what I wanted my parents to be like. I ended up framing it and placing it on my bedside table. Because I was the only girl, Mrs. O'Brien was nice enough to give me my own room. The door opened and Alex walked in. "Get out!" I yelled and threw a pillow at him. He sighed and sat down on the edge of my bed. He's the oldest of the 10 of us.

"Kaylin, just because you don't know who your parents are doesn't mean they didn't love you," he said. I scoffed and rolled my green eyes.

"Yeah? Well at least you knew your parents. Mine abandoned me on the side of the highway. Didn't even care enough to take me to a hospital," I hissed, crossing my arms over my chest. Alex's parents died in a car accident. He survived but was left with no family at all.

"You didn't watch your parents die, Kaylin. Do you have any idea what that's like? To see them dying and decide that you pull the plug?" he yelled. I stood up and threw a pillow on the ground.

"No, Alex! I don't because I've never met them before!" I screamed before slipping on my black knee high high heeled boots and storming out of the house. I'm done with this place. I'm done with foster homes. I'm tired of jumping from home to home. Grabbing my skateboard and helmet from the garage, I rode towards the train station, lucky enough that I took my wallet and cell phone with me.

Tapping on the glass, I grabbed the guy's attention. "One way to Central City, please," I told him. He nodded and I handed him the money.

"Moving or running?" he asked as he slid me the ticket. I laughed.

"Sure you won't call the cops?" I joked. "College. I got accepted there so I'm going there," I lied. I've always wanted to live in the city that Harrison Wells does. But I also want to go to college there. I want to become a CCPD Detective. I thanked the guy and caught the train right before it left.
