Chapter 16

I was emotionally exhausted. I woke up and got ready for work. I was about to walk to the elevator, I bumped into Dane. He asked me if I was okay and I told him I was fine.

"You know, they're still your parents." He said and I ignored him. I knew they were my parents, I was just a little bitter. I walked to Starbucks for my second day and greet the customers that came.

After a few minutes, my parents showed up.

"Megan! You work here?" Mom said as her eyes widened.

"Thanks for stating the obvious." I said. My mom looked at me with apologetic eyes.

"Honey, we're sorry. Can we just be us like 10 years ago?" My dad said as he held me by my shoulders.

"It doesn't work that way. You don't leave your kids without any reason and show up 10 years after." I was about to yell at then but I kept calm. Like I said, I didn't understand myself.

My parents had this upset looks on their faces. Their faces made me wanted to give them hugs because I felt so guilty. My parents bought their coffees and left. I felt so guilty for being rude to them. I snapped out from my childish behavior. I texted Rachel and asked her address. I wanted to visit them and apologized. I realized that I should at least be nice to them for Rachel's sake.

After work Syaz asked me if I wanted to go lunch with her. I said I was sorry because I had plans. She seems upset but she was fine. I walked to my apartment and took my car. I drove to Rachel's house.

I arrived and walked to the door. I knocked it and dad opened.

"Megan! What are you doing here?"

"I want to talk to you and mom"

Dad let me in and I waited for them on the couch. The house was beautiful. My mom walked down the stairs and I realized she was gorgeous. She was a brunette like Rachel and I but her eyes were green, like Rachel's. My dad was not hard to look at too. His dark brown eyes matched his dark brown hair.

"Honey, is everything alright?" Mom said, breaking me from my thoughts.

I saw Rachel coming out from her room which was downstairs, from the corner of my eye. I was nervous and I didn't know why I was nervous. My parents waited for me to answer. Suddenly, I broke down. Tears coming down and I couldn't stop it. I cried and tried to stop my tears but I couldn't.

"Oh honey." My mom said as she hugged me tightly. My eyes were closed as I was crying and I didn't realize that dad joined the hug.

They let go of me and my dad hold me by my shoulder. "Meg, we're really sorry for what we did to you."

"It was wrong of us to leave you like that." Mom said, finishing dad's sentence.

"I'm sorry I've been rude to you guys. You guys are my parents and I should respect that."

Dad sighed and said "You have the right to hate us. No parents should leave their kids."

I smiled. I was glad that my parents were back. They told me they left us because of money. Both of them had to work so hard. They knew that they couldn't raise two kids so they sent us to foster home.

Suddenly, Rachel came into the scene. "How about we go for a picnic tomorrow?. "

"Why?"

"Ohana bonding duh. Ohana means family by the way."

"Great idea honey." Mom said she ruffled Rachel's hair.
