I drove back to Rachel's and knocked the door. Mom opened it and I hugged her.

"Oh sweetie." She said into the hug.

"I'm sorry for ruining the day." I said after I let her go.

We sat on the couch as a family and I told them about California. They joked about Ben and I told them about the camping trip. They acted like earlier never happened. I was grateful for that.

I stayed for dinner. Dad gave me a locket with a heart on it. I opened it and it was a picture of the three of them. I smiled to myself and thanked them for everything.

During dinner, they talked about college and the future. I kept quiet because the future scared me. I hate thinking about it. I hate thinking about growing into an adult. I hate thinking about it.

After dinner, I drove back to my apartment. I went to my study room and began to study. Finals were near and I wanted to make my parents proud, like every other person in the universe. After studying, I walked to my shelves of books. Most of them were Claire's because she loved to read. I opened one book and read it.

There was a chapter dedicated to wolves. A picture of a wolve was there, it was beautiful. Most of the animals in the book were gorgeous.  I looked into the pages and dozed off.

I woke up and went to balcony. New York was beautiful in the morning. Despite all the honking and the rushing workers, of course. A cat walked into my apartment as I was about to close the door. I picked it up, observing her and she didn't belong to anyone. I wanted to keep it, so I did. I named her Ginger because of her auburn fur.

Ginger was beautiful, her eyes were amber just like Scarlett's. She was fluffy and she seemed annoyed by my holding.I put Ginger down and she started to walk towards the kitchen.

"Oh are you hungry, Ginger?"

She jumped on the kitchen counter and sniffed every item on it. I went to her and ruffled her head. I gave her salmon and she ate it greedily. I took a picture of her and send it to Rachel and Chloe. She loved cats while Chloe hates them. Ginger was now sleeping on the kitchen counter after she finished eating the salmon. I let her sleep and went outside to buy car stuffs.

I came back after successfully opened my door. Ginger was still sleeping so I put her on her new bed, which was beside mine. She was suprised for a second and continued to sleep. I put her food away and went back studying. The day were filled with Ginger walking in front of me, distracting me from studying.

                       ...

Night came and I fell asleep. Ginger didn't want to sleep on her bed so eventually she slept with me. I couldn't sleep that night because of her. She kept wiggling her tail onto my face and I kept pushing her away.

Ginger was finally tired and went to sleep. I started to think about the future. I always imagined myself alone, learning and visiting Rachel. But ever since I moved to New York, everything changed. I made friends, lots of them. My parents were back and now I had a cat. I finally slumbered into a dreamless sleep.
