"You're a liar," Jacob stated before he left the table and stomped up the stairs. David jumped up from his chair again and chased after him, leaving the three girls to sit at the table, alone, desperate, and frustrated with Chloe. Even she, herself, was frustrated at Chloe. Margaret looked to Melanie and Chloe before she nodded; then she too rushed up the stairs after Jacob.

"Chloe," Melanie said. Chloe looked to her, but she was staring down at the table, avoiding eye contact with her. They were one in the same. "If you won't tell them the truth, will you at least tell me?"

"I told you all the truth," Chloe answered, after she let her smile go. It wasn't helping the situation. They had already seen through her white lie.

Melanie stood up and hurried up the stairs without another word. Chloe sat at the kitchen table alone as she watched the clock hands turn and turn until it was ten o'clock. Then she finally decided it was bed time, even though he hadn't told her it was yet. Chloe slowly walked up the stairs, making sure she didn't wake anyone up. Once she was in her room, she locked her door and laid on her bed. Chloe took the key out of her pocket and hid it in her pillow before falling asleep without even glancing at the camera in the corner. She knew it would've only kept her awake, but she needed rest so she didn't even bother. He couldn't control every aspect of her life.

"Wake up," He whispered into her ear before Chloe sat up and looked around her room. It was as empty as it had been when she went to sleep. "Get the key." She took the key out of the pillow and unlocked her door; then she tiptoed down the hall and the stairs. Once she was in the living room she rushed to the front door and put the key in the lock. It was a perfect fit. She turned the key, but it wouldn't budge. What in the world? She continued to jiggle the door, and Chloe tried to open it, but it still wouldn't budge. It wasn't the right key. It fit, yet it didn't work.

She turned to the camera in the corner and said, "You sick, twisted, freak."

"What are you doing?" He asked as Chloe removed the key from the door. She slipped it into her pocket and turned around to find Jacob standing in the kitchen. "Chloe, what are you doing?"

"I was just checking," She answered, staring at the floor. "I thought I heard something." After she was halfway back to the staircase, Chloe stopped and asked, "What are you doing?"

"I can't sleep," He said and then Chloe joined him in the kitchen. She sat in her usual spot and glanced to the clock, it was four in the morning. Time had really flown by, but that wasn't what really occupied her mind. The real question was: what was Jacob really up to?
