Chapter 19.

I knocked on her door at precisely eight on a dot. I was never late to an engagement and i wouldn't want to start now. She opened the door as i was about to knock the second time..It was safe to say i was flabbergasted with her appearance. She was looking beautiful in a simple outfit with the brightest smile present on her face..She was just breathtaking and i almost forgot why i was here..Almost.

"You look beautiful!" I could detect a shade of pink on her cheeks.

"You don't look bad yourself" We walked into her apartment while she scurried around to grab her coat.

Soon after we were on the road heading to our destination..There was silence in the car but not the uncomfortable silence, she decided to break it non the less.

"Nice car!" She spoke softly but enough for me to hear.

"You know about cars?" I asked trying to get the conversation going.

"Nope!" She said with a loud pop of the 'P' sound and i just shook my head in amusement..She was just adorable.

"So where are we going" She looked expectantly at me waiting for an answer.

"That is for me to know, and for you to find out but not to worry, your safe with me."

"Am i really?" I pretended not to hear her last question. It was funny because i myself didn't know the answer to that question.

We were back to being silent but that wasn't for long because i pulled over at an empty corner.

"Where are we Harris?" I could tell she wasn't familiar with this side of town. We were currently on a beach, not too far from town. It was a forgotten beach because it was on the outskirts of town and as such not many people came there.

"Wow! this place is amazing..i didn't know this place existed" She had a lovely smile on her face, just what i wanted to see.

"Have a seat..I'm not surprised, very few people know about this place and honestly its a shame, its so beautiful out here"

I filled our glasses with red wine trying not to spill due to my excitement. She was curious as to how i found out about the beach.

"That is a story for another day..You know,i do most of my thinking here and when i need to get away from all the noise and craziness in the city, this is where i go to..its so peaceful you know"

"Ya i can imagine." She was looking out to the ocean admiring the view..Who wouldn't. After we finished having our dinner which i ordered,we were on the sheet which was laid out on the sand.

"Everything is so peaceful out here..If only our lives could be like the flowing water in the ocean..It flows where ever it wishes without any prohibitions." She said while looking out on the water with sad eyes.

"Prohibitions are only there to make us stronger and to have that sense of accomplishment when you finally achieve what it is you want."

She sat up using her elbows to support herself "You are one to talk. You've never had to struggle for anything. Your life is like that of a movie."

"You shouldn't believe everything you read about me on magazines Bridget"

"Don't get cocky with me. I don't waste my time researching about you if that's what your implying" She stood up with a huff and headed for the ocean. She couldn't look at me anymore because i was right.

"Well I'll be damned" With a small smile still on my face,i took my shoes off and left them close to the sheets in order to join her.

"You look really beautiful" I said while standing behind her. She jumped slightly but regained her composure. She turned around slowly and i couldn't help myself. I let her hair loose from the pony tail it was in and felt it.

"Much better.!" She wet her lips and i was immediately drawn to them.

"I have something for you" She gave me a puzzled look while i produced a Golden Necklace with a butterfly pendent on it. She gasped when i made an attempt to put it on her.

"Harris i cant..I can't possibly accept this"

"Yes you can and you will" She pulled her hair up while i secured the necklace on her.

"Its beautiful" She said with a small laugh.

"I saw this and thought of you. Do you know what the butterfly represents? It is a symbol of rebirth and a transformation of change;meaning out with the old, and in with the new. Just like the butterfly, she asks us to accept the changes in our lives as casually as she does."

"Learn to let go and accept what lies ahead with an open mind,an open heart" She looked at me with an emotion i couldn't decipher quite yet.

"Wow! i didn't know you knew so much about stuffs like this"

"That makes the two of us..Bridget on my way here,i tried convincing myself this wasn't a date but like the saying goes, you can't lie to yourself. This much is true,i like you Bridget..a lot and i don't want to sound cheesy but i would like to see where this might lead us."

She was mostly quiet throughout my outburst and i was starting to get worried.

"Say something" Anything would be better than her saying nothing.

"No" I think i preferred it much better when she was quiet.

"No what?" At this point,i was already starting to panic.

"I mean No i don't feel the same way" My heart sank immediately. I felt like a part of me was just ripped out and i was left with an empty feeling.

"Harris i.." I quickly cut her off. There was nothing more to be said.

"Its fine. You don't need to explain anything or try to sugar coat it ok..Its getting chilly out here,we should head back to the city." We walked over to the car in uncomfortable silence. My plan was to act like nothing had happened.

The drive to the city was faster than anticipated. I drove like a lunatic. Good thing it was late or I'll be in prison by now or even worse. What was supposed to be an amazing night turned out to be a nightmare so you can understand why my driving skills came into play..I just wanted the night to be over and done with.

It wasn't too long i parked on the street of Bridget's apartment. The streets were dark apart from the street lights which gave it a soft glow.

"Harris i'm sorry..i just.." She looked at me with pleading eyes but i did not bulge.

"Have a good night Bridget." I said with finality in my voice. She sighed feeling defeated as she opened the door and left the car. I drove off as fast as i possibly could leaving behind the woman who drove my heart crazy.

A N: So i know its being a while since my last update, these past few weeks have being crazy but hopefully, you'll receive frequent updates..Fingers Crossed.

What did you guys think of this chapter..Please let me know.
