You sat on the bathroom floor in disbelief. You had just taken your second pregnancy test this week and the results came back positive. You were happy, but also scared to tell your husband, Jake Gardiner. He might be happy, but he might be upset.
Yeah, you guys were married. But you've only been married for a few months. You didn't even talk about kids yet.
You heard the front door to your apartment open and then close. "Y/N, I'm home," Jake said. He started walking towards the bedroom, his footsteps getting louder as he got closer. "Y/N?"
You stood up and walked into the room. The sight of your husband made you smile. You ran up to him and gave him a tight hug. Maybe a little too tight. "You saw me before I had practice today and I was only gone for a few hours. Did ya miss me that much?" Jake questioned.
Your smile turned to a slight frown as you remembered the news. "Yeah, I guess," you said looking at your feet.
"Y/N," he started, lifting your chin up with his thumb and index finger. "Is something wrong?"
You stared right into his eyes. He's going to find out somehow, so why don't you just tell him now? "I'm pregnant," you blurted out, your eyes returning back to the ground. Once again, Jake lifted your chin. He had a huge smile on his face.
"Parents? We're going to be parents? This is great!" He said, shocking you at how excited he was.
"Yeah," you replied, somewhat relieved.
"Well come on! We gotta tell everyone!"
"I want to wait until three months to make it official."
"So, I can't tell any one on the team? Not even coach?"
"Sorry."
"I'm not promising anything," he said with a smirk. "Now come into the kitchen. I stopped at the store after practice and got you some stuff." You followed him into the kitchen curious as to what he had gotten for you. When you reached it, you noticed the many grocery bags.
You walked towards the counter, searching through the bags to see what they contained. They had all the ingredients to make your favorite food, fettuccine alfredo. "Looking for these?" You turned around to see your husband holding three of your favorite chocolate bars. "Thank you!" You said, giving him a soft kiss on the lips.
"I'm also making dinner for you. So just sit back and relax," Jake replied.
You laughed as he picked you up and set you on the counter. You watched him, correcting every mistake. "So, were you nervous to tell me the news?" Jake questioned as he put a bowl in front of you at the table.
"A little. Why?" You answered.
"I knew you were pregnant. I saw the first test in the garbage can earlier this week. I'm letting you know this now, I'm not mad at all. I'm excited," he explained.
You smiled to know that once the baby was here, this would be your life. Your handsome husband, and soon to be little baby boy or girl. You couldn't wait to start your family.
