Today was going great for you. You and your husband, Ryan, finally bought the apartment you both had been looking at for the longest time. It was a nice, roomy apartment in New York City.
Also, it's your favorite holiday, Valentine's Day. And, to top it all off, you had some exciting news for your husband.
You and Ryan wanted to move into this new apartment as soon as possible, so you decided you would move in today. Because of the news you had to tell Ryan, you couldn't really help with moving in. You had lied and said that you weren't feeling well. Even though Ryan said that it was okay because he had his teammates over to help him, you felt bad so you helped with a bunch of little stuff.
After you two were finally all moved in, the team wanted to go out for drinks. But you and Ryan decide to stay home and have a romantic dinner in your new apartment.
While you cooked spaghetti in the kitchen, your husband was in charge of decorating the the table. When the food was done and ready to be served, you took it into the dining room. You were in complete awe when you saw how Ryan had decorated. Rose petals were nicely arranged across the floor. A few glowing candles lighted the dark room. Along with two plates and wine glasses, forks and knives were placed neatly on napkins. Ryan put a lot of thought into this.
"I tried my hardest," Ryan says, referring to his decorating.
"It looks great," you smile as you put the pot of spaghetti on the table. Then you walk over to your husband and give him a quick kiss on the cheek.
Ryan pulls out your chair for you. You sit, and then he pushes your chair in. He's such a gentleman; he always has been. "I'll go get the garlic bread," he says, walking out of the dining room.
While he's gone, you start to get nervous and excited to tell Ryan the news. You get so lost in thought that he startles you when he comes back into the room. He sits down and starts to pour wine in both glasses. When he's finished, you both pick up your glasses to clink them together. "To new beginnings," Ryan says.
"To new beginnings," you smile, and then sigh.
As Ryan takes a sip of his wine, you set your glass down on the table.
"Hey Ryan?" You say.
"Yeah?" He replies.
"I have to tell you something," you tell him.
He fixes all of his attention on you, "is everything okay?"
"Yeah, I think so. I'll be right back." You get out of your seat and go find what you were looking for.
When you walk back into the living room, Ryan gives you a confused look as you hand him the gift box. His confusion quickly turns into a smile as he jokes, "aw for me? Thanks. Now I feel bad because I didn't get you anything."
"Just open the box, Ryan," you giggle.
He opens the box rather quickly. He pulls out the itty bitty Rangers jersey. He turns it around to see the name "lil' McDonagh" printed on the back. He stares at the little jersey confused.
"I don't get it," he states.
"Look back in the box," you tell him.
He does as you say and pulls out the little pregnancy test. He inspects it for awhile until a huge smile grows across his face. "Wait, does this mean...are you pregnant?" He questions.
You give him a big smile and shake your head to say 'yes'. Ryan drops what's in his hands on the table, jumps up out of his seat and engulfs you in a big hug.
"This is great, Y/N. We're gonna be parents!" Ryan exclaims.
"Yes, we are!"
"I love you so much, Y/N," Ryan says as he gives you a quick peck on the lips.
"I love you too, Ryan."
You both could not wait to start this new beginning.
