"Do you know what today is?" You ask your boyfriend, Landon, who you are talking on the phone to, excitedly.

"Yeah, it's (your date of birth)," Landon says, oblivious to the fact.

Your heart sinks; your own boyfriend forgot about your birthday.

"Look, I can't talk right now. I gotta go," Landon states.

"Bye," you say and hang up. You let out a heavy sigh. Then, you decide to call your best friend.

"Happy birthday!" Y/F/N answers.

"Thanks, at least my best friend can remember when my birthday is," you answer.

"Of course I'll remember your birthday. Did someone else forget?" She questions.

"Landon forgot," you state.

"Oh, no. I'm sure he remembered. Maybe he has some special surprise set up for you."

"I don't know."

"Well, since I'm your best friend, I'm taking you out for your birthday. How does the zoo sound? I know it's your favorite."

A small smile creeps across your face, "I'd love that, Y/F/N."

"Okay, I'll be by in about fifteen minutes."

You're having such a great time with your best friend at the zoo that you forgot that Landon forgot your birthday. You start to wish that he was here with you too.

After awhile, you notice that Y/F/N is leading you to the nice banquet hall that's in the zoo. You ask, "why are we going in here?"

"You'll see," Y/F/N answers.

Once you reach the door, she tells you to close your eyes. Then, she puts her hands over your eyes, just in case you open them. She helps you walk into the room.

She then removes her hands from your face. "Surprise!" Your whole family yells as they stand before you. Then, you notice Landon; he is standing there with a huge bouquet of flowers.

You run to him and jump into his arms. He kisses your forehead, then says, "I didn't forget, happy birthday. I love you, princess."

For the next hour or so, you converse with everyone. Then, it's time for cake and presents. First, your family sings happy birthday to you. As they do that, you sit there and stare at everyone awkwardly; you have always felt awkward when people sang happy birthday to you.

Afterwards, you blow out the candles and everyone claps. You go to pick up the knife so you can cut the cake. But, Landon stops you and takes the knife out of your hand.

He pulls something out of his back pocket, but you can't see what it is. Then, Landon gets down on one knee and reveals the small black box from behind his back. Shocked, you cover your mouth with your hands as he opens the box, revealing a beautiful diamond ring.

"Y/N, I've been wanting to do this for awhile now. I figured, that since all your family is here, why not do it on your birthday?" Landon starts. "I love you, I love you a lot. Ever since I met you, my life has gotten a whole lot better. You always know how to cheer me up after a loss and make me feel better. I appreciate everything you do for me. So, Y/First/N Y/M/N Y/L/N, will you marry me?"

With tears streaming down your face, you say, "yes, yes I will."

Landon slips the ring on your finger. You give each other a passionate kiss and everyone around you is clapping. You can't wait to get married to the love of your life and eventually start a family. This was definitely the best birthday ever.
