"Excuse me, pardon me, coming through," you say, pushing past the busy crowd as you walk through downtown Ottawa.

You were already ten minutes late to work and trying to get through this crowd wasn't helping you get there any faster. Once you made it to an area where there weren't many people around, you started walking faster. In a hurry, you turn left onto the street that your work building is on. As you turn the corner, you feel someone bump into you. Your hot cup of coffee spills as it hits the ground.

"Oh my, I'm so sorry. I wasn't paying attention and I didn't see you there," the man explains.

"Yeah, it's pretty obvious you weren't paying attention," you scold as you bend down to pick up your cup. When you stand back up and see who ran into you, you practically scream, "oh my god, you're Curtis Lazar! I'm sorry. It's just that I'm running late to work and you're my favorite hockey player and you were the last person I expected to run into this morning."

He chuckles, "it's okay. I feel really bad about making you spill your coffee, though."

"Oh, no it's okay. I can just get some in my office," you explain.

"Let me buy you a new cup of coffee, my treat."

You couldn't believe this was happening. As you were talking to Curtis, you totally forgot that you were running late; you got too caught up in the moment. You look down at your watch that you're wearing and you remember that you're late.

"Thanks for the offer, but I really gotta get going. I'm already late enough for work; my boss is gonna kill me!" You exclaim.

You say a quick 'goodbye' to Curtis and as you start to walk away, he stops you. "Wait, real quick, I never got your name," he says as he starts to pull his phone out of his pocket.

"Y/N," you quickly reply.

"Y/N, can I have your phone number? Then maybe one day I can buy you some coffee to make up for today."

"Of course." You take his phone and quickly put your contact information into his phone. He thanks you and then you say goodbye and rush to work.

A couple days later, you let Curtis take you out for coffee. The two of you started hanging out in your free time. You enjoyed spending time with him; not just because he's your favorite hockey player. And when Curtis finally asked you out on a real date, you said yes.
